How to make this Chocolate instead of vanilla

Any one have any ideas on how to add chocolate to this. Dark chocolate bars, cut up and melted or cocoa..

Up the sugar some???

I just made the first batch of the recipe as written and it's delish! I just made another batch of the vanilla to make into ice cream tomorrow.(which will have chocolate chip cookie bits stirred in.)

But I want a chocolate too.

Any thoughts?

The recipe I use makes 2 cups of ice cream (I make a double batch), with a deep chocolate flavor; it calls for 3 1/2 ounces 62% semisweet chocolate finely chopped. The milk is heated, poured over the chocolate and then strained to get any solids out. I wouldn't add any more sugar.

I can tell you from experience. Unfortunately, I made custard based "vanilla" the other night. I even put the bean in with the seeds while heating it. And never remembered to put in the vanilla extract. It was really good frozen custard, but it had very very little vanilla flavor. Or course, it could be that I just like it to have a much more pronounced vanilla flavor, so I'll stick with my "both" recipe.

Cocoa Syrup Ingredients: 1-1/2 cups sugar 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Dash of salt 1 cup hot water 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Directions: Stir together sugar, cocoa and salt in medium saucepan. Gradually add water, stirring to keep mixture smooth. Cover over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils. Boil, stirring regularly, for three minutes. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Pour into heat-safe container. Cool to room temperature. Cover; refrigerate. Use as topping for ice cream and desserts or for chocolate-flavored drinks. Recipe makes about two cups syrup.

Chocolate Habanero chili turning orange instead of brown

Here's another photo of the older plant, which has older orange chilies plus new ones that are turning black (or chocolate). The single orange chili in the first two photos is a different plant, and that is the first chili on it to get ripe. I find it somewhat strange to get two different types of chilies on one plant, but I'm not complaining about it. The older chilies on this plant were not that good and had little heat. I do not think they are suffering from sunburn, since it is now September, and the older chilies were getting ripe when there was a lot more sun, and they did not turn black - in fact they got a bit bleached out instead. The ones that are turning black are getting darker on the side facing the sun, but they are turning dark on all sides. I got my seeds from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds, and I also got Tobago seeds from them, which I was very careful to label and keep separate. Here's how one of those looks now:These chilies have no heat and not much flavor either, and are thin skinned, and so I will not be planting these again. However, this plant did grow from a seed I planted outdoors in a pot in April, and I never repotted it. It seemed to do better than the seeds I sprouted indoors, but I planted several seeds outdoors and only got one plant, whereas almost all of the seeds I started indoors sprouted.

Thanks for replying Ricky. I really like mint though, I think I'm going to leave it out completely in half the cookies & put in only about an eighth teaspoon in the remainder & see how I like it, see how it goes.

I'm no expert, that's for sure. I'm with marigene but I would go with 6 or 8 ounces of bittersweet or semisweet with that recipe. Don't think you would need any more sugar. I'm a taste as you go guy and I'd love to be there to help in that department...

Okay I did as suggested and the kids were in LOVE!!!

Although, the favorite of the 3 hands down was the vanilla bean with the vanilla soaked chocolate chip cookie pieces. (some time back I wasn't paying attention and put in 2 T of vanilla into Sol's brown sugar chocolate chip cookies, they were a bit much to eat, but stowed them in the freezer for the one day I'd do this.)

I loved the chocolate.

and Tracey, if you stop by again, I found this today. Gonna save it and give it a whirl when raspberries are in season.

orange pineapple? I've never heard of that unless it was a sherbert Marigene.
Well yesterday afternoon, I ate some of the chocolate with a blob of homemade loganberry jam and a blob of barely sweetened whipped cream...
