Calzones for Brownies

Thanks to Lou, Chase, Joanne, and Teresa :-)

The Brownie meeting is over, and my eleven little Brownies are very full. I made 2 batches of Joanne's pizza dough, and one batch of her sauce (out of this world...margherita pizza, here I come). I cut a template of 6" in diameter for the calzones, and traced it onto eleven pieces of parchment paper. I had the Brownies pull a hunk of dough from the bowl, and weigh it to get approximately 5 oz. Then they floured their hands, covered the dough balls with the flour, and placed the balls onto the parchment. They patted out the dough until it filled the circle. Next, they put a spoonful of sauce into the center of the dough circle and spread it around. Sprinkled some cheese, and added pepperoni if they wanted. I helped them use the parchment paper to close the circles into calzones (much easier than using your hands). Then I used an egg wash on them, since the girl who is allergic to eggs didn't show. And I baked them for about 25 minutes. After cooling, the girls dug into them. My daughter and one other girl actually finished theirs. The others wrapped and took them home. I feel so fulfilled having helped them experience this cooking adventure. One or two of the girls (prompted by their moms, I'm sure) even asked me when my cooking show was airing :-)

Here's some pics...
