LG WM2487 or Bosch 500 Nexxt Washer/Dryer???
Comments (21)Just an afterthought. concerning leveling, if you are using pedestals.... When the Home Depot guys off loaded the washer and pedestal, they married the two out in the street before bringing it into the house. I watched everything they did (and didn't) do. The two pieces get married with these brackets on the sides that both screw and glue together. They just slapped the two units together, not paying any attention to the leveling legs that were on the bottom of the washer, now resting on the top of the pedestal. Who knows what position they were in, after coming all the way from Asia. What I found out later, was that these leveling legs do influence the vibration coming off the machine. Even if you get the complete unit level, you can still have some vibration problems if the leveling legs on the washer were wacked when they put the two together. Unfortunately, the glue they use for the brackets is fairly permanent, and hard to make changes after the fact. I would probably suggest that the legs on the washer be put all the way in prior to joining the pieces together; or, level the pedestal, put the washer on top, level that, and then put the joining brackets on. I love Home Depot, but they really should get better-than-minimum-wage contractors to do these installs. Good luck....See MoreBosch 300 vs 500 series Nexxt FL washer
Comments (26)Hay guys (sorry I have a teenage kid - I pick this kind of stuff up from him) I'm looking to add a Bosch washer to my LR. Now that Best Buy (shudder) isn't the only vendor I'm putting them on my interest list. I'll post about my leaking Danby later, after it gets fixed. Second leak, FYI. Somewhere during my insomniac surfing I saw a post that says the 300 heater does NOT maintain temp throughout the wash, but the 500 does. Of course now I can't find it so I'm asking for confirmation or not. Any other differences in these machines (across the whole Bosch line, not jus the 300/500) that one can't get from reading the online user guide/manual? Also I can't seem to download the 300 user manual - I can get the 500, DLX, 700 and Platinum, go figure - so if someone has a link, couldja share please? I'll probably get a 500 (love dross's 'sweet spot') but I just want to look at the options. Gotta tell ya I'm spoiled with my Danby - flick of the dial and I can change temps for any cycle, no muss or fuss, and since its a dial I have infinite variations. I digress. Also since I just seemed to miss one of their (many) rebates which ended 3/31, any idea when Bosch will roll the next one out? Thanks. I'll update my Danby at the three year bday mark in late May....See MoreBuying my Bosch Nexxt 500, usage tips from current owners?
Comments (4)1. No lint fitter that needs regular cleaning. 2. Just wash fuzzy sweaters on the wool or delicate cyle They'll be fine. 3. For large items like comforters or pillows, they must be combined with smaller items so the machine can find a good balance. Otherwise it won't spin. 4. My towels are perfectly soft. Stiff towels aren't clean , too much or too little detergent. 5. Yes, but use only a small amount, 6. I don't worry about lint, it hasn't been a problem, 7. The only things I put in bags are bras, just to protect them. I did notice, when my sister was here, that baby socks can get pushed into the gap in the gasket, where they don't get clean, so maybe they should be in a bay. One bag comes with the machine....See MoreBosch NEXXT 500 vs 700 series?
Comments (2)The quick wash is a mode on the 700 rather than a cycle. It shortens the cycle time by between 5 and 15 minutes depending on the cycle. It also has a power wash mode which adds between 10 and 40 minutes to a load depending on the cycle. The heavy duty button on the 500 seems to be the same as the power wash. I did note that the cycles are very slightly longer on the 500(Between 2 and 7 minutes) , I don't know why. On the 500 the quick wash is a set 25 minute cycle that you cannot change the temp. You can add bleach or an extra rinse if you like. The only other differences are that the 700 has a reduce ironing selection that fluffs you cloths more (adds a few minutes) but you could just use Perm Press, it also has a 30 minute prewash that you can add on to your cycles. They both have a 2 hour soak, as well as drain and spin cycles. The 700 has the Aquaguard cycle to waterproof stuff, useful if you're really into camping? If you want to know actual cycle legnths, I have them written down for both machines. I started with the 700 and traded for the 500, there was a problem with the 700 and I did not want to risk a 4 week wait (they are special order at my store). I think they clean about the same, I only had the 700 for 2 days, and just got the 500 today. All the loads I did in each machine have come out great. A little twisting on the Cotton Temp Boost Power Wash cycle in the 700. And the queen beadspread I did in the 500 on delicate came out great, and even with the reduced spin speed it dried much faster than with my old washer. Good luck!...See Morejcrowley99
