replacement of heating & air conditioning units

We have a house that approx. 6500 sq ft. The furnace & a/c units for the first floor are Intercity Products rated 100,000 btu and a 2T a/c. They are 18 years old. The second floor unit is a Carrier 80,000 btu with 1.5T a/c unit outside. The Carrier furnace is about 10 years old but the air cond. is the original 18 year old ICP unit. The original house was about 3600 sq ft and about 13 years ago, the previous owners built a "wing" on to the house which increased it's size. On this wing on the first floor is a huge garage which has it's own heating source. On the 2nd floor it added 4 rooms to the back of the house. They moved the a/c units to the back of this wing and they are quite a distance from the furnaces. We are thinking of replacing both furnaces and a/c units. And I have 2 quotes from Carrier dealers in the area (NE PA). But I am totally confused.

One quote says:

Second Floor: one (1) Carrier 58MVC100-20 (100,000 BTUs input) 95% AFUE variable speed blower, three stage heat, gas fired furnace, one (1) Carrier CNPHP4221 air coil, one (1) Carrier 24APA542 15.00 SEER, 12.8 EER (42,000 BTUs cooling) 3.5 Ton a/c unit with Puron (410A) refrigerant, and one (1) Infinity controller.

Is there anyone out there that knows something about Carrier and replacing furnaces that can shed any light on these 2 quotes, equipment stated, etc. that can help my husband and I disseminate what is being proposed. Why would there be such a huge difference in the proposals and their prices? Thank you.
