Fixing problems with a backsplash

We just had our subway tile backsplash installed yesterday and I'm not happy with some of the areas. In a few spots, the tiles aren't even and it looks like I have waves in the wall. The installer had said he could pop out any tiles that break or chip in the future (I'm sure he's not expecting a call back today) and it wouldn't hurt the integrity of the rest of the job. Has anyone removed just a few tiles from the backsplash? Can it really look seemless? I'm more worried about the grout looking smooth and not having chips in it where it meets up with the sections that will remain. Thanks very much for any input.
