Hi everyone,

Here is a picture of my ice cream cake that I had for my birthday. It was delicious!

Good luck with that mixed basket Brad. And hope you had a great Birthday week. I actually moved some of my cold growing hoyas outside for me the summer barring no freak weather. Actually just Polyneura and some of my Carnosa. I am considering moving my Linearis out for the spring/summer at this me too. I may wait for Tuesday evening to pass since the temps will dip that night into the upper 30's but will be back up to the 60's in the day. I would suspect these Hoyas see temps in the 30's at times in habitat. I will be sure to keep them dry in the meantime. Your cake looked great by the way. -David

Could I have a flower or two? I love fondant icing. I've heard it's really hard to work with (which is why those cakes cost an arm and a leg). My daughter's wedding cake had fondant icing and fondant azaleas twining down it. It was beautiful and tasted even better, but it cost more than her gown. People are still talking about that cake 16 years later. She should do it professionally for a year or two--then she could retire--haha! And if she needs a taste tester, I'm available.

Oh, that would have been good! I saw this after mixing the cake, though. It's in the oven now. The strawberries were very unripe: I used the less ripe ones to chop and put in the batter, but it sure won't be getting much flavor from those. I have never paid so much for such anemic berries. I saved the best ones to slice up. She won't get here til after 10 pm, I'm guessing we will serve the cake tomorrow, when more pople will be home. At this point, I will be happy if I can get it out of the pan in one piece. I had forgotten that my pan is not a typical bundt shape, but a very fluted design. Pretty pan but a devil to unmold. Thanks! This cake came from Dairy Queen (enough said). It's all but gone. This picture was taken last Saturday (the 26th). Annie, I love the light blue too!

Thank you everyone! I love the cooking forum and cooking itself (you should have seen lunch today: roast beef with onions and baby carrots, instant mashed potatoes and gravy, YUM! Mom did that meal as usual. She cooked the roast, onions and potatoes in the crock pot) but one of my other passions, gardening, is starting to gear up for the year though I devote my time to each.

You may remember that I got the novel "Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle Stop Cafe" for my birthday too. I can't wait to try some of those recipes! You all know how fond I am of fried green tomatoes :).

It seems I've activated everyone's sweet tooth lol. I did have a wonderful birthday (I'll remember it for a long,long time). Thank you everyone!

That really does look like a very creamy cake. Personally, not a fan of ice cream and double that with working at DQ as a teenager we don't have it around often, if ever. You're lucky your mom treats you. Next birthday, it's a DQ cake for the kids! They looove ice cream. AND I just got busted as my 10 yo saw and asked why we never have "DQ cake". Instead of next birthday, I guess it's Easter we will get one. Hope you had a good one. 21, sigh.
