Can someone help me search here on GW? Christmas related

It must be the air, because I'm having a humdinger of a time trying to find things in a search here on GW!

Since I have a new fireplace and mantel, I need to get busy trying to find a garland for it, and to look at pictures of decorated mantels for Christmas.

I've done a search on the other side of the forum and came up with everything BUT mantels at Christmas. I know they're there, we had a huge topic last December about mantels and Christmas trees.

I also searched Christmas decorations/ing, Christmas tree, Christmas Mantels/mantles...and I can't find anything Christmas related. I did a search on Christmas, and nothing!

But I did find some neat topics from 2004! lol

Would one of you kind souls take a minute and help me find a topic showing mantel decorations?

Oh, and I also can't find hardly any online stores for garlands. When I'm not looking for them, they're there! Natch!

Oh Oakleyok I think mantels look so pretty when they are done in real greenery and berries and pine cones.
Down here magnolia is used a lot in Christmas decorating since Magnolia is everywhere.

Last year I did everything on my mantle in white, gold and silver (all fake) and I think it turned out pretty good it didn't photograph well. But the bookcases were all done in the real greenery and magnolia and white lights were hidden inside. Not shown in this picture.

And the mantle in the kitchen was done in natural greenery.

Oakleyok, there's a few here in this link that you may not have seen, they are mixed in with door decorations, too.

Enabling the pop-up blocker is something everyone should do. But this may pose some problems when you go to legitimate sites, so you may have to do some tinkering with it from time to time. Unfortunately, cookies seem to get "planted" no matter what you have set up. Attached is a link I found. I don't know anything about the software they're trying to get you to download but this is worth looking at to find out what tacoda is. What I would do is go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and run their online scan. You might have to download Java if it's not already on your computer. Housecall is what my computer guy uses as the first step to removing virus and I have used it several times where I used to work, where people downloaded every free little gadget they saw, not realizing that so few things on the Internet are free. Many of these things come with spyware, at best, and out-and-out viruses at the worst. One of the biggest messes I had to clean up was when one of the employees downloaded some free cursors -- butterflies and other things that were in constant motion. Not only did that constant motion slow their computers 'way down, but it held the door open for some pretty damaging stuff. Before someone came to me with problems, three employees had downloaded the same programs (recommended by the first employee). One of the employees didn't want to ask me for help and tried to remove the program herself and caused her computer to crash. That computer had to go to the shop. They were able to save all of her files but she did without her computer for a week. I have Norton on my computer, but I find that it doesn't catch everything. Another good program to use, that is free and safe, is Adaware. Buehl, please do! I was just trying to save something of use. I'd been checking the GW all night, turned my back for 15 minutes to watch the Health Care vote, and whammo! all the posts were gone. I kept refreshing, thinking, "This can't be!"

Nanny, I had completely forgotten there was a holiday forum! Thanks!

newdawn, I like live greenery too, but our fireplace will be lit quite a bit so I don't want anything to dry out on me and become a fire hazzard. It gets really dry here in Oklahoma during the winter, I went to artificial trees because of it. Real greenery sure is pretty though!

Speaking of Bru where is she?? I sent her a quick email a couple weeks ago checking in and didn't hear anything. I think I remember her saying they would be moving into the new house this fall.

Ah yes, the holiday forum. I really like that place but have to be careful. ... they make me want to buy dishes. :)

Sheesharee: Brutuses (Patsy) seems to be doing fine, we e-mail a couple of times a week. She hasn't moved into her new house yet but I have seen many pics of it and her hubby has done a remarkable job. She keeps so busy with all of her pets and then the rescue and feeding programs that she does in N.O., she's one busy gal. I so enjoy her friendship and it all started here on GW many months ago.

If I remember correctly, Brutuses left of her own accord. I miss her posts too and had wondered if she had moved in yet. I do believe a couple of weeks ago I saw a short response here to someone's post, but that was it. She also posts on the building board - I love to look around the first of the month at the new home pics. I would love to see her home after she gets it all decorated. Her hubby did a wonderful job and she has some beautiful pieces/fabrics to go in the new home.

Jane - I would love to find some of those mercury glass trees!
