Coordinating colors saffron cabinets

Hi,

I'm thinking of going with Medallion saffron cabinets. I'm going to be using matching beadboard in the dining area of the kitchen. Anyone have ideas as to what color to paint the upper half of the wall? I'll be going with some sort of wood floor. I love the saffron but am really hesitant due to fear of not being able to coordinate it well. Anyone have this color cabinet? My other choice is the Medallion vintage oyster. Also looking for ideas on coordinating backsplash and countertop. Thanks so much.

I don't have Medallion saffron but i have crown point cornsilk and it is very similar. I have a chestnut colored island and cooktop/hood to kinda break up the yellow, then, get this, I have purple walls. Now it is not eggplant purple, it is more like a grayish purple, in fact, in the evening light it looks more gray. the fabric valance over my window is a purple/yellow/ green plaid with yellow fringe. it took me 5 years before i could decide what color to paint my kitchen but now i just love it. if i can figure out how to post a picture, i will.

i think the other color you could go with is a soft green or of course an ivory would be the safe choice

Hi Pence, Thanks for the good suggestions. I'd love to see pictures of your kitchen. The purple sounds very pretty - actually it's my favorite color. I'm laughing about the five years - that's probably 1/2 as long as it will take me! I'm WAY too analytical about everything.

stay lighter..classic gray from the above group but that might even come off too dark. the counters are going to feel gray ish with little natural light. I would really go a bit lighter than most of those. I'd look at neutral off whites personally..they are not white . I think long term as light as you can make yourself go, the better this will end up. B Moore DecoratorsWhite cabs below..

Look at Meadow Mist OC-134/936 which is lighter and warmer than November Rain. Or Spring Bud 520 which is close to the same LRV as November Rain, but is warmer (has a little more yellow and less gray). I had Spring Bud in my bedroom in my previous house. That room didn't get a lot of light and the color always looked good. I don't know how either one of those will look with the gray backsplash. If that's a cool blue-gray it might be a challenge to find a warmer wall color that looks good with it.

Hi Patreesh,
I have Schuler/Medallion cabinets in Oyster Vintage. We painted our walls BM Oat Straw.

I just love your kitchen Marcy, and keep coming back to it to remind myself how it is a beautiful creamy color, and doesn't seem as yellow in a kitchen as the door looks at Lowes. Love your faucet too! Does it splash much? I really want one like that, but my current faucet is so low (and ugly) I haven't had a chance to try out a higher one.

Thanks, colorado mom! I was worried about the cabinet color being too yellow also. But when all the other components are in place, granite, backsplash, flooring, it tones it down to a more warm creamy color. It does change color with the light during the day and becomes a bit more yellowish at night, but overall I am pleased with the color. My faucet is Showplace by Moen - I forget the name but can look it up if you need it. It isn't as high as some of the other high-arc faucets and doesn't splash much. I really like it so far. Thanks for the great information You're doing a terrific job with your kitchen. The Oat Straw was an inspired selection! Your floor and range look very similar to what I have/will be getting. Also love your range hood and tile mosaic. Knock-out kitchen. Please post more pics as things progress.
