facebook warning!!!!

Facebook users do not open any link to a connection to join $4.99 a month fee for facebook users..it is a vicious, virus that takes you to a site that is abominable..don't go there. I just got notice of it and want to pass it along...Haven't even had time to check out snopes yet..

not either or, but both just keep both and use them each for full scans but always update them, they are fine together and with your antivirus since they are only running when you choose to run a scan, don't run them both at exactly the same time of course. this is layered protection which is the ultimate way to keep a pc safe and clean. If you don't have spywareblaster that one should be added also. just update it once a week or 2 let it get the latest definitions, hit the enable all protection button and the shield will turn green thats it no scans it just sits there and protects your surfing, no need to change any settings leave it just as it comes default. SpywareBlaster be sure to get the free one, when you click on the download free button it will open a new page offering the trial version for the pay just ignore that and select to continue with the free download.

The report was clear to say that while the number of vulnerabilities in Mac OS X is expected to increase, they will likely be outnumbered by vulnerabilities in other operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows, for some time to come." "... Between July 1 and December 31, 2004, Symantec documented 13 vulnerabilities affecting Microsoft IE, nine considered high severity. Six vulnerabilities were reported in Opera and none in Apple's Safari browser." "... The report called the zero number of confirmed Safari vulnerabilities 'somewhat surprising given the increasing popularity of Mac OS X,' but suggested that as the browser grows in usage, so will the attacks." "... Mr. Cole said the classic and basic rules still apply to fend off virus and hacker attacks. I am careful about what I click on, but since most viruses are written to target PCs, I believe my husband's computer is much more liable to have problems with them. I just don't "get it" about Facebook. Yeah, I "joined" and have thirty or forty "friends" there, but I don't find it very interesting. What am I doing wrong? Who care what games other people are playing, etc. Maybe I just have boring friends????????? I'd rather go out to lunch with them than read about them on Facebook. I can barely spend 5 minutes there.

So my understanding is that there will not really be a charge for Facebook use, and the links on that fake warning contain a virus.

Glenda....because there are may clever hoaxes out there, and Snopes.com is the best way to check them out.

Another note on this....if you ever get a pop up box on a web site that has an ad or what looks like gibberish (but nothing to do with the page contents) and Continue or Cancel buttons - do NOT click on them.
Instead, to close it, click on the X in the upper right corner of the box.

A lot of clever thieves out there.

Why always check Snopes you ask? Because Snopes will (usually) tell you whether the rumor (alert, warning, whatever) is true or false or somewhere in-between. Checking Snopes first tells you whether it is, in fact, something to be worried about or not. Why keep proliferating and getting people on alert if there's nothing to it? (Sort of like yelling "fire" in a crowded theater).

Somewhat less potentially disastrous than yelling, "Fire!!" in a crowded theatre, which can cause nearly immediate death by trampling to quite a number of people.

Let's keep things in perspective: a pain in the ass isn't quite similar to lying in a coffin (even if one may have chosen to get burned after being put into it: then it's the worker at the crematorium that says, "Fire").
