End Of Summer Pics. Warning: LOTS Of Pics.

This album contains well over 100 pics. Lots of palms, bananas and citrus. It took me almost two hours to get it uploaded and annotated on Facebook. Please follow the link below...

There is also another album called "Welcome To My Tropics (August 2009)" that I posted a little over a year ago. It can be used as a reference to see how much everything has grown.

I APOLOGIZE for not reposting all of the pics here. I just can't stay here another two hours to do it on here and on a couple of the other boards I frequent. For that reason I'm just going to post a link like this on each.

Hi Joey,

I know what you mean, it takes time. If you select the best 12 pictures that would be more than enough to start talking about your palms and other tropicals. I would like to see them.

Plus 100 pics on this site are too many for my system to download and makes it hard to see the pics and read your post.

Thanks so much!! The first two do look similar to Juglans/Carya, will look them up. And great to hear about the 3 P. pungens. I got a steal! Any ideas on #3? All I can tell is it is a rapid grower, and looks to have bloomed this past summer on branch tips. That bark must be a give-away, but nothing I've grown myself. Thanks again.

Yes, Blue Yew, it is. Ken - the even was the American Conifer Society Northeast Region Field Day in Bucks County PA. Click the link for more info. It was a truly spectacular day and a mind-boggling introduction to the conifer world for me. The people were welcoming, friendly and happy to share information. If you are interested in seeing breath-taking gardens like this one and meeting truly inspiring people, I would absolutely suggest joining the ACS and becoming active in your local region. The next outing for this group is going to be in the Danbury CT area and a few of the gardens on the tour have been shown on the Martha Stewart Show and highlighted in Fine Gardening magazine. Thank you - glad you liked them :) Katkin, the mama - tree was huge, definitely not a dwarf. Another interesting fact about this particular orchid tree - it has small spikes. I have never seen a Bauhinia with spikes Marcia, thank you. Hummingbirds did discover the plant - the first time I ever saw a hummer was on this powder puff. Boy, I screamed with excitement-- I grew up in Russia, and only saw pictures of hummingbirds before. I did not know they will nest in it...that would be lovely. As for the swap...well, I do not have a car at the moment, so as much as I want to, looks like I will be staying home :( I know it is going to be so much fun.. An_ill-mannered_ache : I love Prosperity. Mine is still small, and still in a pot, but what a show...Do you grow any other OGRs? Susie, I do not remember the name, and should probably look it up. I am on campus almost every day - I will run off to the gardens and look up the name of the mama tree. As the seeds are ready, I will give you some, without any trade. I also have a usual, lavender Bauhinia in a pot, if you are interested. Thanks again :) Olya

Facebook is great for sharing with friends, but is a terrible place to post photos you wish to share with a broader audience. I'm on facebook, but the only way I can see your photos there is if you leave them open to the public since were not "friends" there. Personally, I leave hardly any portions of my profile open to the public on facebook, for security reasons, and, well its my personal profile, and mainly people I am friends with on there, I know personally in real life. I'm not sure I would want strangers / the general public to be able to go through all my personal photos which also contain photos of close personal friends either.

Probably a better place to put them for the purposes of sharing them on places like Garden Web, or any other public forum would be a free photo sharing sites like Photobucket, Flickr, or Picasaweb. That said, I too look forward to seeing your photos!

Please post them here! As the old message board Icon saying goes...
