Repeated warning messages re Facebook

For the past three days I've had trouble on and off using Facebook. I connect via the Facebook URL with https as the prefix, which I was told indicates a secure connection. Periodically navigation around the FB site becomes impossible, and if I quit the browser tab and open a new one, I get the following message when I try to connect with FB:

You attempted to reach www.facebook.com, but instead you actually reached a server identifying itself as s-static.ak.fbcdn.net. This may be caused by a misconfiguration on the server or by something more serious. An attacker on your network could be trying to get you to visit a fake (and potentially harmful) version of www.facebook.com.

You should not proceed, especially if you have never seen this warning before for this site.

The https in the URL is crossed out in red. So I don't proceed, but if I try again later chances are I'll be able to get on . . . for awhile.

This happens with every browser I've tried: Chrome, Firefox, and IE. I had a similar experience trying to connect via my tablet (Nexus 7 running Chrome).

Any thoughts? Thanks!
