I've heard a lot about this lately. Some products are being switched from HFCS to real sugar. Apparently, because of the production of ethynol, among other things, the price of sugar and HFCS are much closer now, so some manufacturers are switching back to sugar.

I avoid as much processed food as I can, but I do still eat some, so I'm still getting HFCS in a lot of things, but the less of it being used, the better. I never drink tonic (soda) other than Diet Coke, so the HFCS/sugar issue in drinks wasn't really an issue for me.

Of course a ton of sugar isn't good for you either! And I know, I know - Diet Coke is probably worse, but it's my one vice (that and vodka martinis, of course!)

I probably don't drink a real coke once a year, but a few years ago I had a locally produced root beer, made with real sugar, and it was incredibly better than anything I've ever had with HFCS. It's not just a flavor thing, but a mouth-feel, as well. The real Coke is the same, very different from the standard Coke. If you haven't tried it, even if you rarely ever drink sodas or sugary Cokes, give this a try and see the difference.

I'm with you, tho. Diet Coke and martinis. And wine....

Anybody have an idea where to find this in southeastern PA?
I looked at my store (Giant) this morning, but no luck. I have never seen Kosher Coke, and didn't know it existed.
I'd love to taste some sugar-based Coke again.

I found Coke made with sucrose today at Wegman's. It was in the section with all the Passover products. I just looked at the ingredients on the different Coke products till I found what I wanted. They only had sucrose Coke in 2 liter bottles.

Try a store in a neighborhood with a lot of Jewish customers. It may not be in all stores, and will probably not be with the regular soft drinks. Check the Kosher food section.

Here's a little info. I could have sworn I saw I think sugar based Pepsi in cans too at Albertsons. I'm pretty sure atleast one of them is going to put it on the market for more than Passover.

I was excited to read that there's some Pepsi with sugar being sold for the next month or so.

Terri and Jessica, I just saw Pepsi and Mountain Dew made with sugar, it's called "Throwback". I bought Ashley the Mountain Dew and she didn't like it, she said it tasted funny. LOLOLOL Now, with all that sweetener, how could she possibly tell?

I drink iced tea, plain with no sweetener or other flavorings, so it's pretty consistent. (grin)

Oooh. Where did you find it?? I've checked several grocery stores since seeing the ad, and can't seem to track it down.

Walmart has been selling the Throwback Dew in 20oz bottles here. My husband is a Dew lover and LOVES the Throwback.

You can also get Pepsi and Dew in 12pk cans.
If enough people buy it..I bet they'll start carrying it for real!

jessica, I found it in my tiny little independent grocery, but Amanda bought the Throwback Mountain Dew at Meijer's and I think at Walmart too. We must be a target area or something, LOL.

I've seen the pepsi and Mtn. Dew throwback at Target and Walmart. We ended up buying a flat of the mexican coke at Sam's Club last time we went. Looks like they will be carrying that for awhile.

China (brand) cola is made with sugar and the organic & natural foods section of our (Vermont) Hannaford supermarket has it. Also the same store carries Polar Classic soda, also with sugar, in their regular soft drink isle. I bought a six pack of Polar Classic black cherry.

A few years back we stopped drinking carbonated beverages to avoid HFCS, and I switched to plain seltzer water because I like the sparkling effect. I had planned to occasionally use sugar and flavoring to make my own soft drinks when the mood for a sweeter drink struck, but now with the marketing of these retro soda pops there's no need.

I do hope the demand for corn for ethanol production will cause a wholesale removal of HFCS from our food supply. It is so pervasive that we have to read every label from soup to ketchup to avoid it.
