Waiting, and waiting...Fedex where are you???

O.K. I will admit that I waited to the last minute to buy a particular Christmas gift. I order several books from an online store. I would have bought them in town where we live but the online prices were so good, plus they were offering 2 or 3 day shipping. So I went for it. I ordered the books Dec. 21st. I am STILL waiting on the books. The online book store sent a transit number for me to follow the shipment. It has been at a particular location since the 28th of Dec. I am getting annoyed. I live in a remote area, and UPS have NEVER had a problem delivering anything. I order from this particular book company alot! Never had a problem until now, as they usually ship through the post office, but I assume since this was free shipping they offered, they chose another shipping company.

When living in CA in a rural mountain area, Fedex always had problems delivering. In fact, several times our neighbors found packages just left by rural mailboxes, not ours. Have you called them? Sometimes if they cannot find you, they just put them on a shelf and "forget" to contact you or the seller.

We live in a rural area, and I do a lot of online shopping, so UPS and FedEx are here frequently. Most of the time, we see the trucks and go out to get the delivery. But if we don't see them, they leave the package on the concrete pad outside the garage doors--which means it is out in the open. We have covered porches on the front and back of the house. Wouldn't you think they would put packages on the porch, rather than leave them exposed to the weather? I guess I'm going to have to post a sign asking that deliveries be placed on the porch.

Years ago I ordered a lime tree from the same company. It takes them forever to ship out. I received the tree after about a month of waiting. Calling and giving bad reviews didnt help. When the tree arrived it was exactly what i expected for the price: a small rooted cutting. It was a great tree to practice citrus culture on because it was so inexpensive...I eventually killed it and learned from the growing experience. My current citrus are from Four Winds.

thyme - definitely remove the seedheads from the big tulips and daffodils as soon as you see them start to form - actually, as soon as the tulips drop their petals and the daffodil flowers start to fade, I cut the flowerstalk down to the base. It reduces the 'mess' factor considerably by not having that dead-straight yellowing stalk poking up. It's easier to hide the basal leaves among other plants than it is to try to hide that stalk! But the small 'botanical' tulips and dwarf type daffodils should be allowed to set seed because most of those will spread nicely from seed without as much weakening of the 'mother' bulb - or at least the seedlings get to flowering size before the 'mother' bulb wears out. Judy - tulips are usually recommended to be planted about 6" deep - I aim for 8" in heavier soil and 10" or more in lighter soil (which I don't have!) In your climate, I'd think planting deep would increase their odds of returning for more years. Another important factor I think is to not water where they are too much during their dormant period. I don't think they like that. So make sure any companion perennials are not water-hogs that you need to provide a lot of supplemental water to in the summer. If I know I want to divide or move a clump, I wait until the foliage is ready to be removed and do it then (usually early July here). I that is not good timing (e.g. because I have to move/lift the companion perennial too and it's not a good time to disturb that plant...) I just mark where the bulbs are, either by leaving a bit of the old stems showing or put a few sticks in the ground or something like that... Then I can find them easily again when the time is right to move them. When we dig them, we start the hole back from the edge of where we've marked the bulb location. We know how deep them are, so it's fairly easy to dig them up without too much risk of damage.

Some of you, having heard this story before, may want to skip on through. As for the " 35% annual rate or more on some of their money ... guaranteed ..." in the story - it's possible. Apart from low or 0% temporary teaser rate, most regular credit cards charge 18% or so annual rate on balances owing carried over the first billing date, which figures also include purchases made on the day before the billing date. Since most of the stuff that most of us buy using the card is not deductible, if we are in the 25% income tax rate, we must earn $24.00, pay$6.00 in tax, and have $18.00 left to pay the fee on a $100.00 loan. That's without counting that they charge and bill every month, which adds up to more than 18% per year. That's without counting any extra fees for paying less than the minimum required monthly ... or being a day late with the payment, etc. If one chooses to use a store-issued card, most of them charge about 28% annual rate which means that a person in 20% tax rate must earn $35.00, then pay $7.00 income tax, to have $28.00 left to pay the fee on a $100.00 loan. A good reason to make doubly sure that one pays off one's credit card balances owing in full, every month. Which I claim to do ... but didn't this month: was about 7 days late. Getting stupider, day by day, it looks like. How many days do I have left, did you say that you guess there may be? ole joyful ... who often takes life rather seriously ... but not full-time

prairie - The bunny was a clearance one for $4 from Home Goods. I just loved seeing Judith and other's tablescapes that I've had my eye out for bunnies and this one jumped out at me. I love blue and use a lot of it so I'll pull it inside probably in the spring for something but it can keep the crickets company for now. I'm liking these mosaics, in fact I saw the cutest thing & a picture turned out bad but they took anything from a glav. steel watering can to any garden object and covered it with mosaics and grouted it,,,I'm going to have to try it sometime. I look forward to hearing the trickling of water when DH hooks it up.

I'd call them. The first time FedEx was to deliver a package here, they sent it back to the seller stating I wasn't home when they tried to deliver. I WAS home that entire day.

I took your advice, and just called Fedex. They left me on line for what seemed like forever, then someway the phone call was disconected. I called back and did my whole spill again. (tracking number, when shipped, etc.) to another phone rep. I was put on hold and AGAIN I waited forever for them to come back on line with me. I hung up. I then called the shipper and they were extremely helpful. Told me if I had not received it by Monday, that they would ship it out again. In the mean time she told me she would contact Fedex and get back with me. How Nice the seller was!!
I know one thing, Fedex will never get my business. Wanda, Fedex did the same thing to us a long while back. We had ordered a new cell phone because ours had been stolen(duh, my trusting husband left it in the car in plain view) and it was shipped by Fedex. We kept waiting, and waiting with no cell phone. Finally my extremely patient husband called the cell phone company about 3 weeks after we had placed the order. Fedex had sent it BACK saying they had attempted delivery several time but noone was home. (the phone needed to be signed for) I am homebound for the most part and was home. I Have a door bell and dogs that bark when a vehicle comes into the yard or someone is at the door. I think the driver of fedex was telling a fib, or was at the wrong address where someone wasn't home. I am home 99.999 percent of the time and I would have heard him if he did indeed try to delivery here at my house.
