I saw it advertised but didn't watch, and kept thinking how similar it was to the show about the lady detective in South Africa. For the likes of me I can't remember the title now, it was on ShoTime or HBO last year, couple years ago? This lady also decided to start a detective agency on her own.

When my DD got married 12 yrs ago she wanted sets of those glasses that "look" like cut glass in the black & white box, they are sold as 24% lead or maybe not that much but it is right on the box & I think they still make them, they had them at Target, Kmart, most of dept. stores. Then go look at the fine china & most of it is loaded with lead unless they just changed it. I got where I wouldn't buy anything like that. Warnings all over & said couldn't use any juices or acidic fruits in them. Even some bowls that were bright colored had warnings. Kind you put on table with apples oranges bananas in!! That was a OK!!! Like the conversion to digital, think that is gov't idea as it is going to cost us all as they say it will increase electricity use a lot. I guess there arn't enough blackouts & brownouts around the country!! I think big businesses give politicans big bucks to get this stuff passed. Who benefits from digital-cable companies, electric companies & those selling TV's & antennas. They came up with idea in Ca. few yrs ago that all washers & dryers would have to be replaced with front load ones, they raised them off the ground some & put very fancy price tag on them. Well, lot of people looked & said they wanted old models, they weren't paying double!! I remember when the "ban" on side load washers & dryers went in because too many kids were crawling in & dying, they kick at the round part- never think to kick on the door. My neighbors wanted to show me their new set- wow! 3 yr old child in house- I told them they were dangerous!!Next day it was on the news about boy that crawled in 1 at laundrmat!!!Laws get hidden & gov't does what lines their pockets the most!!!Jan

Any interest in discussing character names? Since I didn't follow the first thread, I don't know if this has already been discussed. I found it interesting that certain characters were given names odd names and others were given common names. All the characters who have Latin names ending in "us" -- all those names have a meaning: Albus = white Rubeus (Hagrid) = red Sirius is the brightest star of the constellation Canis Major, the Greater Dog, Sirius Black = Black dog Remus Lupin - Remus of legendary Romulus and Remus, twins nursed by a she-wolf (Lupa means she-wolf) Argus (Filch) - Argus is a monster with a hundred eyes Severus = Severe Bilius (Ron's middle name) = peevish or ill-natured Lucius = bringer of light Regulus = prince or heart of the lion, it's the bright star in the constellation Leo Some other interesting names: Harry (from Harold meaning Army Ruler) Hermione (earthy) Ronald (Advisor to the king) James (means supplanter) Lily (the flower?) Draco = dragon (or serpent), also means cruel or severe Bellatrix = female warrior Pettigrew = small growth Fleur Delaceur = flower of the heart Tom = twin Narcissa = vanity, callousness and insensitivity Phineas (nigelus) = loudmouth As for Voldemort -- well mort means dead or death, and the only meaning I could find for Vold is that it means violent in Danish. Could = violent death? Anyway, I think a lot of these names are very interestingÂ any comments?

According to my insurance company, the recipient's insurance pays all costs for the donor. However, the donor's family does not get any additional money. I am not allowed to know my donors name, so I can't pay them anything even I wanted to. There's a bill in New York State to make organ donation more common-instead of signing to be a donor, you would sign a card refusing to be a donor if that's your wish. I was told no religion actually forbids organ donation. But I see an ethical problem. If the state automatically "owns" your body after death, that's a slippery slope. I didn't see Harry's Law. Watched it a few times last year and I liked it but I didn't get really into it. Wish I had seen it.

The girl who played Cassie this season is from our town. She said in a local interview recently (like March) that they were hoping another network would pick it up but I guess that didn't happen. She was in town recently and did a workshop for people who wanted to audition for acting roles in theater/plays, etc. Her dad helped start our local community theater many years ago. Karen won a Tony for her role in Westside Story and another award for a part in Rent, I think.

Schoolhouse: That was the character of Precious Ramotswe, of "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency." Based on the book series by Alexander McCall Smith. I'm hooked on the books! For some reason, even tho I've seen the DVD at the library, I want to cling a bit longer to my imagination of what the main characters and the scenery look like...

"Harry's Law" is not really a "detective agency" kind of thing but a defense attorney taking on cases others probably wouldn't. Or in the case of the premiere show, one that not so much "fell into her lap" as fell onto her head! You should watch it!

It also ran this morning about midnight ..on USA..I was shocked that USA was airing it..I got to watch it without interruptions and really enjoyed it.

Great show. Kathy Bates is one of a kind. I am sure they raided my closet for her wardrobe. Loved the shapeless black outfit she wore to court. I know I had one just like it.

It'll be a hit, it'll be a hit.

Thanks for the info about tonight... did not know that, but will watch again.

You can watch it anytime you want to online. I started watching @ 11:10 this am. Just go to the NBC website -- the episode is there. I'll probably be watching it online because it was very entertaining and because it's on cable opposite Hawaii Five-O, which I HAVE to watch on the big screen.

I have the whole series flagged to copy on our TIVO. I think it is going to be a good one. Love her assistant who sells shoes too.
