Yikes - should we keep our vintage radiators??

We are in the throes of remodelling our family room. The house is an antique and we have old cast iron radiators throughout the house (which we love) but the 2 radiators in the family room are a different style and seem to date from the 1950s. As the walls were exposed we realised just how much of the radiator is buried within the stud wall. We are concerned about how energy efficient this particular style of radiator actually is - given that about 4 inches of the radiator is within the wall. I need to make a quick decision as to whether we should keep them or replace with a modern, hot water steel radiator (vintage style). See pic of current radiator.

Please help a first time poster!! Many thanks in advance.
