I think that's the style of backsplash I will be looking for. I have a casual contemporary kitchen and plan on adding soapstone on my perimeter cabs and a new island with engineered quartz.. I want clean contemporary lines for a backsplash but not ultra modern. My perimeter cabs are natural maple and I think the brick style will look great. Do you know how much per square foot they are and if they sell samples?

Close. I used 1"x4" (WZ Weave). In my experience, the key factor in how the glass looks on a backsplash is the finish (ie glossy, matte, iridescent, back-painted vs. colored glass) rather than the size.

If I had/have the $, and it wouldn't look too weird to use the same tile in my tub surround as on my backsplash, I'd use the same tile in the bath as I did in my kitchen! So I think the tile you're considering would look great!

Ours is that mix of very narrow tiles and slightly wider tiles hung vertically.

Hmmm....maybe if we only eat PBJ's from now 'til year's end, the money will hold out.....! LOL

Remodelfla, go to the contact page and check to see who is a dealer in your area. I have not been able to find samples to buy. You may have to go in and see samples at a tile store that carries the line like I did.

Callie, what finish did you use? Did you have it set vertically or horizontally? These come in glossy and matte from what I've seen on the site.

BTW, did your tile setter use "mastic" for the backsplash?

My backsplash has similar size tiles in it, but not the same one. (hopefully the link to the photo will work)

FWIW--We were told NOT to use mastic (I know there's a reason but I don't remember it at the moment!).

I came very close to installing vertically, but ultimately decided to echo the horizontal shape of the backsplash space. I think the vertical installation is more modern (the WZ site has some great pics of that), and I wouldn't hesitate if that's the look you are going for.

Our tile is rough-edged and just slightly iridescent, with grout that matches the green of the tile (pics below). Originally, I didn't think I wanted iridescence, but its very subtle and makes the surface shimmer when direct sunlight hits it (and therefore more visually interesting to me). I think the glossy is slightly easier to keep clean (ie Windex), but I like the matte look too.

The rough edge, combined with the color *in* the glass rather than a colored backing definitely gives it a more handmade look. I am shopping for glass tile for a bathroom now, and I definitely know that I wouldn't want the rough edge tile on something my hands or feet will touch regularly.

I don't think we used mastic for the installation, but I can't remember the exact type of thinset the installer used. Maybe make a visit to the John Bridge forums to get some advice from the pros. Good luck!

Callie, I love how you took the tiles up around your window. I had mentioned that to a few tilesetters and they all said it wasn't a good idea! Maybe they don't want to work over the sink?lol What is the colour paint you used? Thanks for the pics.

About the mastic...I need to discuss this with whomever I choose for the backsplash.
