Candle light sounds very nice about now Linda lol. The food is free with the price of admission. We try and plan so there are no leftovers or very little. We are given money by the committe to budget the food for the auction. We have gotten a pretty good feel for how much we need over the years.
Lunch would be great Alexa! Haven't been to Rick's in years though I pass by it in the village nearly every day. The snow has stopped now. So I think we are okay as far as not loosing power. NancyLouise

How much snow did you get, NancyLouise? It was all rain for us where I live (Cape Cod) and I'm glad of that!!

What are Ba-Da-Bing Potatoes??

We got around 4" of snow. Not much but it was the wet snow. Heavy and clingy. Some of the branches on our bushes were bowed to the ground.
Wayne got the recipe for the potatoes from allrecipes. He uses fresh herbs when available. Here it is;

Ba-Da-Bing potatoes are small whole potatoes that are first boiled with garlic cloves until tender. Then smoosh them one a time just enough to break open the skin. Mix them with butter, olive oil, parmesan, basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper. Bake them in a 400F oven until browned (about 30 minutes). Put on a platter and sprinkle with parsley.
They are easy to do and hold well without drying in a warm oven til one pan is empty and a new pan replaces it. NancyLouise

NancyLouise - fortunately that is the snow that melts pretty quick though... I'm sure it will be gone by tomorrow or the day after.

Yep, Alexa it should be gone by tomorrow. It's going to be in the 40's tomorrow with some sun. I heard in the high 50's the day after. Wayne said Mother Nature put the snow there...she take take it away! No snowblowing today. I'll email you tonight when we take a break from cooking. Just made our 2nd pot of coffee. We're right in the midst of a blizzard here, too. My main plan is to clean house, make a big pot of chili with black beans and pinto beans and some corn muffins and do a lot of reading! I'm in love with the Alexander McCall Smith books and can't put them down for long.

Thanks for posting the recipe for the potatoes NancyLouise - they sound great. I'm braising a pot roast this afternoon. I think I won't put my new white potatoes in with the meat - I'll cook them Ba-Da-Bing. More interesting that way!

Bada Bing Bada Banged Potatoes

"New potatoes are par-boiled, tossed with Parmesan cheese and lots of dried herbs, and then baked until browned and crispy. "
Ingredients:
5 pounds small new potatoes
3/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup melted butter
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon dried basil
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary, crumbled
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
3 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Directions:
1. Preheat an oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
2. Place the potatoes in a large saucepan of water. Cover; bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat; gently cook potatoes until tender but still firm, about 20 minutes. Drain.
3. Place potatoes on a greased, rimmed baking sheet. Smash the warm potatoes with the heel of your hand or a small pan to flatten slightly and break the skin.
4. Mix together the olive oil, butter, 1 cup Parmesan cheese, basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper in a large bowl; add the potatoes and toss well. Return coated potatoes to baking sheet, leaving 1/2 inch space between each potato.
5. Roast potatoes in the preheated oven until lightly browned and slightly crispy; about 30 minutes. Place hot potatoes on a large platter; sprinkle with parsley and the remaining 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese.
