Yes, yes, yes, yes, yess, yes,yes no on the last oen...guess if it is not up by tuesday they are talking blood transfusions oh boy! Along with all my other female prolems..but they did pinpoint this to maybe why I have daily headaches....will let you know not looing forward to it concedering cancelling it...I relly dojn't want to go...Stacy

If they are talking blood transfusions it is serious enough that you have to go!!

Can you take Iron Supplements? I know I did when I was pregnant the first time. Red meats and spinach have iron in it.

Stacy; I was in your situation years ago and I will never for my GYN's statement to me that I should not even drive in a car, cause if I got in an accident and was bleeding I would not make it to the hospital. I had 3 teenagers at the time, how do you not drive? I suffered for years with all those symptoms, thanks to a huge (5 month pregnancy size fibroid).But I did not want the tranfusions either, I went on an iron intensive diet and iron pills (along with lots of fiber).Finally I was able to have the surgery to remove the fibroid, along with my uterus, and almost immediately I felt so much better, I could not belive the difference in how I felt. Looking back, I should have had the transfusions so I would have had the surgery sooner. Take care of whatever the Dr's want you to do. so you can get back to enjoying life...

Stacy, have you had your thyroid antibodies tested? Not tsh, t3's or t4's - but the antibodies??

Definately get the iron up, but make those doctors check your thyroid antibodies. It is amazing how much difference a little thyroid pill can make!

I think I mentioned my sister-in-laws low ironwhen you mentioned how cold and sleepy you were? Her level was 4. Before Christmas she was in for a transfuion. She just had her second blood transfusion Friday. 2 units each time, she is on iron pills also. I am not sure what her problem is, some people according to my DB don't manufacture it enough? But she had gastric by pass also and I wondered if she is not getting or absorbing enough nutrients????

Don't cancel the appointment Stacy!! Please don't. I could kick my SIL's a$$!!!! I mean really. She was to the doc last spring for something else. She hates doctors, never goes in unless she is almost on her deathbed. I mean hates them and will never go in for anything! Which is why she gets so bad IMO. They told her last spring her iron was low, gave her pills, she said she didn't think she needed them!!!!!! Argggh stupid stupid stupid. She quit taking them and was feeling sleepy, tired, (she said coffee made her sleepy! can you imagine???) she had a hard time breathing,(your heart pumps the blood that carries oxygen don't forget)I am really not sure what all, I think her skin was very dry?(not positive about that last one)She was supposed to take the iron pills, go back in for more blood work and to see the doc and of course canceled the appt "cause she didn't need to go".

Anyway she NEVER listens to her doctors and does what she wants, then it gets so bad she is in the hospital or something! Like I said I'd like to kick her butt!

Also my GF's DH was anemic, pretty bad. Hadn't felt good for a long time, he found out he has Celiacs Disease. But I think from talking to you before about it, from the sound of things thats not what the problem is. Keep those appointments you told me you had girl! Very important.

Hi Thanks all Brian says I will be going no matter what. Yes they checked for my thrioid that was actually her first concern but then with my cysits and tumors she is thinking no? We will see tuesday I guess;;;;they did start me on iron so maybe when that kicks in I wll feel better...Stacy

Stacy - AFTER you get your iron levels up - go and get a copy of your bloodwork (thyroid tests) and see if they checked the antibodies. If they didn't check the antibodies (and MOST doctors don't) ask them to. The reason I'm stressing this is because you have a lot of hypo symptoms. I also have fibroids, female problems and I had daily headaches for the past 4 years (every fall and winter like clockwork) - since I have been on thyroid meds I have not had any headaches, PMS has improved and a lot of the other symptoms are going away as well. It is still early in my treatment but I believe the headaches and the PMS were directly related to the thyroid problem.
