Shocked by grandkids!

Well, not really shocked by my grandkids, but shocked at what they have been and are allowed to watch on TV and the movies.

I found myself feeling a bit uncomfortable when I was watching some movies with my two grands during their after Xmas visit.

One girl is 8 and the other 13, but I know the 13 yr. old has been watching pretty much the same type of stuff when she was much younger.

Don't think I'm a prude, but some topics and entertainment I'm not ready to share with children.

How do y'all feel about this? What is the correct age limit anyway?

I am one with really little ones,all under 5 and we can't even watch tv after 7 at night with all the bad words, exposed parts and inuendos. What ever happened to little house on the prairie and the brady bunch.

Nana, I got on last night with the intention of reading all the posts and commenting....of course when I saw the word "purple", that was the first one I read being me. When I went to comment I just started falling apart and realized I couldn't act 'normal' afterall. I'd finished writing my Dad's obituary and picking a photo for it a few hours earlier, so that's probably why I was a mess. tho I seem to be staying that most of the time. I'm clearing things from Dad's room, except things special to me, because I 'have' to. I need to see that room in a different way as soon oas I can. It hurts too much otherwise. The hospital bed has to go back to the VA, so I hope to find some different furniture for that room in the future. The gigantic old dresser needs to go, but Zorro can keep the easy chair. He claimed that years ago. ;o) Basically I'm just donating Dad's clothes and going thru loads of paperwork. He saved every scrap of paper and trying to sort the necessary from the useless has been a challenge. After Mom died 10 yrs ago, and he moved in with me, he really kept very little. "Stuff" was her thing, not his. He stopped driving when she died too, their car was totaled in the wreck and he didn't want another one. So Dad's belongings are very few, except his clothes and a lot of framed family photos. I'm so glad I don't have a lot to go thru again, like when we lost her. this is the photo I chose for his obituary, its how I'll always remember him with his wonderful smile, ready to tell someone a joke. hugs, Karen

I understand wanting to feel "normal" again after your spouse dies. I knew I wasn't thinking straight, and I had 5 little kids to take care of, so I became a victim of a man who "threw me a rope" from the abyss I was in. I have to believe he heard about my husband dying and saw dollar signs. Our marriage did not last. I didn't come out of a fog until about 2 years. I didn't understand about waiting at least a year before making big decisions. Family and friends didn't object, but I think no one really knew what to say or do. Your father in law is clinging to what he has had. That love and closeness, sharing his life with someone. It's possible he is avoiding you because he understands what he is doing is not right, he may be under the "guidance" of this woman and doesn't want to jeopardize the relationship, or he really isn't thinking straight and is focusing on this woman and his old routines have gotten dropped from the huge rift of change from his wife dying. You might suggest very gently and only once, that this is a huge adjustment for him. Having a list of things widowers go through from a professional would be best. He is being led, and he will allow it. It is possible to lead him to a difficult, but better grieving process. Because of my marriage within a year of my best friend and husbands death, I didn't actually grieve until after my divorce, 6 years later. Take care. I wish people would discuss these situations more, instead of trying to deny that death happens. It is such a horrible time and any help through it would be nice.

My grandson was almost 9lbs when born-a big, healthy baby. By 6 mos he was wearing 12 mo sizes-he was at the 99th percentile for height and weight. He's now 19 mos and is still in the 99th percentile for height but in the 70's for weight. As a toddler he is very active, running, tumbling, and he eats a nice, healthy diet. As an infant people made crummy comments about his chunkiness, especially compared to the tiny babies we'd see. People have always thought he was slow for his age-because they thought he was much older than his age, actually he's right on target (and in some cases exceeds target development). That baby could have a variety of health issues that cause it to be bigger than usual-or it could just be a big, healthy baby that will outgrow the chub as it becomes more active. So long as the parents allow the baby to be active and learn how it's body works-crawl, walk, run-it'll be fine.

Larry, I am so sorry about your garden and about Madge's pots. Most of your plants should recover. In our worst ever hailstorm we've had here in OK, my tomato plants were between knee-high and waist-high and loaded with fruit when hail that was about the size of ping pong balls busted everything down to the ground. It probably was very late May when this happened. I literally had to cut every plant off an inch or two above the ground and start over, just hoping that at least the broad-leaf plants would come back from their roots. I raked up endless busted fruit and demolished plants and my garden was pretty bare by the time I got all the destroyed stuff out. The compost pile got fed huge, endless amounts of plant matter that week. Cutting back the plants to remove all the damaged parts clinging by a thread worked for tomatoes and peppers, and most of the flowering plants. It did not, of course, work for onions and corn and much of anything else that has a central growing point. I salvaged the onions, though, harvesting all of them early and only half-sized, but chopped and froze them because the bulbs were bruised from the hail and likely would have spoiled quickly. Our tomato and pepper plants made a full recovery and we had a great harvest that year, albeit a late one. I replanted all I could so we'd have more than just tomatoes and peppers. I was so grateful for the garden's recovery. Still, if you had looked at our garden in May with all that damage, you'd never have dreamed how good it would look maybe 4-6 weeks later. This was very early in our years here in OK, maybe around 2004 or 2005. We've never had such bad hail since, for which I've been exceedingly grateful. We had experienced baseball to softball sized hail in Fort Worth a couple of times and, needless to say, garden plants just did not recover from that but, honestly, we had so much damage to the house and vehicles that the garden was the least of our worries. I'm always so impressed with Loren's skills and her willingness to tackle whatever job must be done. She is learning to be so self-sufficient and such a great handywoman, and she is learning that from you! You should be proud, and you should brag. Your daughter was so lucky to have you and Lauren then repairing whatever you could. I hope her house is going to be alright. You know what, I am glad you hugged your daughter. We did all the proper social distancing for 5 or 6 weeks, but once the kids started bringing the grandkids over again, we all started hugging again and it just felt so right. I have noticed that our neighbor (stage 4 pancreatic cancer) has been surrounded by his kids and grandkids, and now nieces and nephews and their kids, this past week....and why not? If they cannot be with him now and hug him now, then when? While everyone is praying so hard for a miracle for him, the unspoken thought in my mind in his case is that sometimes God doesn't give us the answer to our prayers that we were hoping for. Our preacher used to say "sometimes the answer from God when you pray is no or not now" when I was a kid and I've never forgotten that, so why can't our friend's family just be with him now while he still is here? Who knows how long he has, especially since complicating factors have prevented them from starting chemo as planned. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow on this earth. Sometimes families may have to choose love and togetherness over social distancing and I believe that is okay. We cannot let this pandemic turn us into robots who stay six feet away from everybody we love forever. The government asked us all to be careful and to self-quarantine in order to slow the spread of the virus and we all did that, but even they do not expect us all to self-isolate forever. We slowed the spread. So far our hospital systems have not been overwhelmed, but we also have to go on living. I can tell you from going shopping on Thursday that most people up here in OK are completely over social distancing, and few are wearing masks. People down in Texas don't seem to be doing much social distancing, at least not when we were in the DFW metro last week, but they were much more likely to be wearing masks. And, of course, they should be taking it very seriously down there because just the DFW metro area has well over 15,000 cases and that case load alone makes me think they'll keep wearing masks down there for the foreseeable future. I think everyone is trying to do what they can, within reason, while getting on with living their lives. It seems to be a rather delicate balancing act. Nancy, I want to dig out my annual veggie raised beds next year in the off-season and fill the bottoms of them with hügelkultur materials and then pile the dirt back on top. Of course, heavy rainfall could ruin those plans too, but we have tons of wood to use if only we can do that. We don't need more beds, but we need to feed the beds we have and I want to feed them with hügelkultur materials that will keep them happy for years. Ever since we moved here, I have focused on improving the soil first and foremost. Maybe no one but me ever will understand how much it has improved, but at least I will know that I left the soil here much better than I found it. We also have tried to heal the land. Our property is essentially 14.4 acres of creek hollow, with three creeks and numerous ponds and a swamp. It was so badly eroded when we moved here because almost every bit of it slopes downhill. Only the part where we have our house and detached garage is flat and fairly level. So, for years, we have healed eroded gullies by filling them with hügelkultur materials and letting all those materials sit and decompose in place. It is amazing how such a simple thing pays off. The gullies stopped eroding and the native plants returned to them, filling in the bare denuded soil and covering it with grasses and forbs that have reclaimed those eroded places. Because so much of our hügelkultur material was tree limbs and such, the wildlife flocked to the gullies to nest in the piles of brush we placed there. It was a win-win situation. We'll always have sloped land. We'll always have heavy rainfall flowing downhill from surrounding places that are on higher ground than ours. We'll always have some erosion, but that doesn't mean we can't work to minimize the erosion, to fix the land and to control the flow of water and to improve the soil. We just do what we can. All we really have to do is stop the erosion and keep the soil from washing away, and the native plants come back on their own and take over. To me, that's a huge improvement we can see that pays off in terms of the native floral and fauna. It rained overnight and again this morning, so we remain lakefront property at this point. What can you do? God is sending us rain and we shall have rain. Tim, being type A and OCD was going to lose his mind yesterday over (a) the HVAC not working and (b) our HVAC guy being on vacation. So, he spent his whole day (and my whole day) obsessed with fixing it himself. He couldn't even think of anything else. Couldn't talk about anything else. Didn't want to do anything else. Guess what? All the parts places are closed on the holiday weekend too. He went everywhere, he called everywhere, he was relentless. He finally found a guy in Muenster, TX, who had the two parts he thought he needed to fix the HVAC, so off we went to Muenster to this very nice man's house, because he runs his HVAC repair business out of his shop building on his property. He was such an angel because, you know, it is his holiday weekend too, and he found the parts, pulled them and had them waiting for us when we arrived. Once we were home, Tim fixed the AC, with a little telephone guidance from the gentleman in Muenster. Now, I want to be a fly on the wall when Tim explains to our usual HVAC repair guy that, um, never mind and forget the discussion we had on Saturday morning---I fixed it myself. lol. Most of those guys aren't overjoyed if you tell them you need them and then turn around and tell them "never mind". It isn't even that hot this weekend, only the mid to upper 80s, but my husband acted like we were going to die if he didn't get the AC working this weekend. On the other hand, it was too muddy to do any of the other 99 things on his To Do list, so at least he had something to work on. Amy, I'm glad you got your goulash! Did you find the refrigerator? Jennifer, Fire ants are not the same as red ants. If you have red ants, those probably are very beneficial in the garden. We have giant harvester ant mounds outside our garden and those ants have worn pathways through the grass and into the garden. I see them in there all the time, carrying out whatever food they find (seems like they like seeds a lot, and the bodies of dead insects) and working quite diligently. I like them. Most all ants are beneficial in the garden, but fire ants are not, and the damaged they do just to the gardener is bad enough to make you work hard to keep them out of your garden. Red imported fire ants are tiny compared to harvester ants, except for the queens which are much larger than the rest of the fire ants, and they sting like crazy. I will tolerate all ants in the garden, except for fire ants. Here's some info on Red Imported Fire Ants. I think they probably were what you were seeing in 2015 because all that rain was hard on them. Red imported fire ants Congrats on being able to enjoy a strawberry pie from your own strawberries and I hope your lunch with your friend was nice. Larry, My sweet sister recently was hanging a new shower curtain, and she was standing on the edge of the tub to hang it on the rod when she slipped, fell, and broke her foot. It is impossible to get up out of a slippery tub with a broken foot. Thankfully someone was home when she fell. I cannot imagine what it would have been like if she'd had to lie there for hours waiting for someone to come home and find her. I hope Madge heals speedily. I always take my cell phone into the bathroom with me so I can call someone to come rescue me if I fall in the tub. Tim's gone to work for so many hours per day and I'm usually home alone, so I have to be super careful. My friend, Jo (Fred's wife), fell once at the mailbox at the end of their driveway and broke her pelvis and couldn't get up. She didn't have her cell phone with her, and their private road, with just their house and one neighbor's house, gets very low traffic when everyone is gone to work, so she laid out there for several hours waiting for someone to come driving along and find her. I learned from her ordeal and had made a habit ever since of taking my phone with me everywhere, even if I am just going to the garage, garden, chicken coop or whatever, just because I want to be able to summon help for me if I've fallen and can't get up. Heck, if you fall here, the fire ants right now are going to come over and start building a mound right on top of you. I haven't been having to use the water hose, and the fire ants have built numerous mounds right on top of it. One of our friends was thrown off a horse last year and laid on the ground with a broken hip for several hours. By the time someone found her, she had fire ants all over her, just adding insult to injury. I had started making aging adjustments at a fairly young age---around 54 or 55. When Jo fell and laid out there on the hot ground in the sun for so long, it made me more serious about carrying my phone if I am home, or letting people know where I am going if I am not at home, because I realized what happened to her could happen to any of us at any age. I'd rather be smart and proactive and face the fact that every year my body finds it a little harder to do all the things I used to do, than to live in denial, like the man I'm married to, and pretend I am not getting older. There is nothing wrong with getting older---it is, indeed, a blessing, but we have to be smarter as we age and we have to have a plan in place to help ourselves if we fall or otherwise get injured in some way. So very many of our older friends here remained in excellent health well into their 70s and 80s (and some of them, their 90s) and drove their adult kids insane by always being out on the tractor, on the horse, etc., until they fell off the tractor or the horse and laid on the ground for hours waiting to be found. I've tried to learn from them (and all of them did have to learn to always have that phone on their person just in case). I also learned that a stubborn person who is insistent that they will heal and return to the tractor and/or horse tends to do so. For all of them, a broken hip, tail bone or pelvis was just a temporary impediment to living their life normally. One injury does not keep a good person down, and for many of them, the motivation to do all the physical rehab after breaking bones was that they wanted to get back on the tractor or back on the horse. I guess for me it would be that I wanted to get back into the garden since I don't have a tractor or a horse. If this rain keeps up, my whole garden is going to drown again, and all I'll have left is what is in the containers. I'm so grateful for the container plants because there's a ton of rain in our 10-day forecast. Dawn

I'm shocked, too. My kids are 29, 28 and 21 but they're still too young to see some of this crap on TV. I guess I *am* a prude, but the stuff on NETWORK TV today would have had an R rating in the 1970s.

I miss the GOOD old shows, like Dick Van Dyke and Andy Griffith and Lassie. Seriously, I thought those shows were much better than the drivel we see today.

My eight year old grandson was here to stay for a while after christmas and we are very careful about what he watch when he is around. But..he also knows what is off limits and will tell us if it is something he's not supposed to see

I'm talking shows with adult humor and the sexual remarks..even tho it was 'bits and pieces' scattered throughout..I thought it was too much.

My son brought these movies/shows with them so it's like they hadn't seen them before. He assured me it was no problem..well, it was for me, but I'm just the Gran. :)

Oh yes, my grandson turns 11 today and his dad was hoping to find him 'That 70's Show' as a gift. Sorry, but I wouldn't have let my 11 yr. old watch that type of show.

I'm totally with you!

When my boys were growing up, (now 26 and almost 28) I wouldn't let them watch the Simpsons! Ohhhh they were mad at me, but that was ok...it was my job. There were alot of shows I didn't allow.

It isn't just the movies or the after 7/8pm shows, it's daytime tv as well. Ever watch a little of Dr Phil, even Oprah, let alone the other 'talk' shows. And then there are the syndicated shows......they were earmarked for later night tv when they were produced. As soon as they go into syndication, they're on at any time of the day/night.

Oh, I agree with you all....I'm just so appalled at such shows as Two and a Half Men, etc. There must be more to life than just sex!! There just doesn't seem to be any underlying (?) story there at all. I watch The Newhart show (about the Vermont inn) every chance I can, and it is so darned refreshing.

I rarely censored what my kids watched on tv. My sister censored everything. My kids are pretty good adults, but my youngest has given me some (okay all...) of my grey hairs. LOL But in general, I'd say I've done quite well with my kids. My sisters kids are all heavy drinkers, one walked his pregnant bride down the aisle, the other had someone hold her baby while she got married, three others are single parents. Not that I have anything against unwed parents, as I was one too, but when you shelter your kids too much they grow up to be more curious and wild. My kids knew movies were just fiction, that only the news was real and even then the news could be exaggerated at times. We discussed what they were watching and if they didn't feel comfortable watching something, they usually went to their rooms and read a book or played.

Like Debby I never censored either. I always felt that much would just go over their heads and if it didn't it was an opportunity for them to ask questions. If they were old enough to ask the question they were old enough to get an honest answer. The answer would be short at first. If it satisfied them then I figured it was what they were ready to input more detailed info. Sometimes it would lead to further discussion which meant they were ready for more information.

I looked at these occasions as opportunities to make sure they got the real information they needed and also as a chance to insert my values.

My kids grew up just fine and got into far less trouble than a lot of their friends who were censored and learned to sneak. They also learned I could be trusted with anything they had to say to me.

I didn't censor my kids tv either. Neither did I censor their music. But I told them that i did not want to hear some of the stuff they listened to, and they could not put tv or music that could be considered objectionable on when their friends were over...because I wasn't going to undermine the other parents. I also did not impose a curfew on them...I told them if they were reasonable about the time they came in at night it would not be necessary.

My kids turned out great. They're very responsible, and somewhat conservative, actually. They do not drink and have never done drugs (an awful lot of Mike's friends have told me how BORING he was at parties). They are not perfect, but they never went through a "rebellious" streak. Strange, because an awful lot of the kids who were raised by "strict" parents went absolutely wild when they hit their teen years. Not all of them...but a lot of them.

Add me to the prude list. I watched two of my granddaughters one summer. Tori was about 10 or 11 and Aly was around 8 at the time. They wanted to watch some of the talk shows in the afternoon and I didn't think the shows were age appropiate so I told them no. They said that mom let them watch the shows (I doubt that)so I told them they could watch when mom was home but when I am in charge the answer is no.

We never censored what our kids watched, but the programs were much better back then, sit coms that parents and children could enjoy.

Had a friend ask what curfew we sat for the kids and had to tell her we never had one and they all got home at a reasonble hour. No, they weren't perfect but have turned out to be very good adults with their families.

i thnk donna is correct...my kids were born in the 70's, raised in the 80's, and we really didn't have to censor as much as my kids do for the grands...ds1 rarely watches anything but movies or sports with his girls (age appro for the movies) dd1 watches very little tv with her girls, although sil is crazy for some of the dreadful sit-coms...

dd2's kids don't watch other than in the am (kids shows)

My child was born in the mid-eighties, he's now 22. He's an awesome young man, magna cum laude at his university.

I didn't censor him, but we usually watched TV together. It included many shows, like the Simpsons, which had adult overtones. The fact is that if they are young, the sexual innuendos fly right over their heads. If they do understand them, it's best to talk about it.

Don't kid yourselves - they will see this stuff. My son saw his first Hustler mag at the ultra-Christian neighbor family's house, when he was eight. Yes I was shocked - mostly because that family's oldest kid (only 10) knew where his dad's stash of porn was. Neighbor Dad denied the mag was his, but his name was on the mailing label, LOL.

He did have a bedtime when he was young, and a curfew when he began to drive. I set an alarm clock outside my bedroom door if I wanted to go to bed earlier than his curfew time - he either got home on time or Mom-the-thundercloud was waiting for him or on his cellphone, LOL.

Seriously, I'd rather send them out prepared than "protect the precious child". Over-protected equals unable to deal with the real world.

What's really funny to me is a lot of TV we may have watched as kids would never pass the PC test today. Can you imagine the uproar if we had shows like Amos and Andy,F Troop,Hogan's Heroes, The Three Stooges,The Honeymooners (to the moon Alice)etc. today? Even I Love Lucy had themes on making light of domestic violence (Lucy's black eye) and racial profiling. The Real McCoys with all the stereo-typing? Don't think so. Sanford and Son and the Beverly Hillbillies wouldn't make the cut either. Poor Hopsing would have been written out of Bonanza today. The animal rights activists would go after Davy Crockett and his coonskin cap. Forget most westerns... the weapons the weapons aiee. Street justice...oh noooo.LOL

It wasn't all Ozzie and Harriet and Leave it to Beaver. Oh yeah forget those also. Too many allusions to the boys' friends getting whippings and beatings by their dads.(and no one thought to call CPS)

Can you imagine the feminist uproar today over shows like Laugh-in and Shindig? (Bikini clad girls and girls dancing in cages)

The cartoons we watched, Popeye was a role model because he ate spinach. Never mind the gist was it would make him strong so he could beat the krap out of someone. Explosives,tying people to the train tracks,bombing the enemy (the Commies the Germans) oh the stuff our young minds were exposed to. However did we survive?

I totally agree, and wish I brought up some of those examples. The ultra-conservative neighbors would let thier kids watch all of the shows you brought up, but the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were the (as they put it) "Devil's Spawn". And it was such an uplifting cartoon, LOL - full of acceptance of others, and finding the best solutions to conflicts. Yeah, my son didn't get to play over there terribly often.

I guess I'm a bit of a prude(and I'm 25) I still get uncomfortable watching some stuff with my parents. I don't think expecting something to go over their head always works- they might ask their friends about it later or imitate it without knowing what it means. I was at a friends house when I was a teen, laying on the couch and their 3yr old came up and tried to french kiss me! I was totally freaked out but they said" oh she's been doing that ever since she saw it on TV" YIKES

I can only speak for preschoolers, since I am a preschool teacher. I definitely see a difference in children that are allowed to watch TV shows and movies that are not appropriate for this age group.

It's not that I was trying to "protect" my sons from certain tv shows, I just didn't want them emulating them. They LOVED to role play. (we also didn't have computer or video games...they played outside and used their imagination) They watched TMNT. I bought them the action figures. But, I definately didn't want them acting or talking like Bart Simpson, and that's exactly what they would have been doing.
Now, there were shows I didn't think kids needed to be exposed to...
We were at a neighbor's house once when Cops came on. I said I was talking my kids home, because I really didn't want my grade school kids watchin it. Their answer to that was they wanted their kids to watch it so they know what the real world was like. HA! That wasn't the world I lived in, and it wasn't the life our family lived in.
This is the family that later had a shooting at their house, and my husband had to go out and keep the kid who got shot from bleeding to death while the shooter was still out there. He was never the same after that. Nope, that wasn't the world I lived in, and it wasn't the world I wanted my boys to grow up in. There are alternatives.

I remember an illustration I used to tell my kids when they were little.
You can use any circumstance to fit your needs here.
A young person wanted to go and see some terrible movie and asked mama for permission. She was cooking at the time and decided to make some Jell-O- "Tommy" (we'll call him) "Go get those onion skins from the garbage bag, "Now, put them in the Jell-O while I stir it around" Tommy was horrified but he did it. "Now, get those eggshells and do the same thing" After a while Tommy said "But Mom, we'll never be able to eat that Jell-O it's all messed up!!"
"Exactly" said mom That's why Mom doesn't always approve of everything you want to do ..you don't have to clutter your mind up with all that garbage"

We are all familiar with Internet SPAM and Message Boards Spam.
But what about the SPAM that comes into our thinking day in and day out.
By Ugly lyrics, by a constant barrage of ads on TV; telling us we are not pretty enough or thin enough etc,. by some newscasters who inject fear and worry on every broadcast. By friends, and relatives perhaps laughing at us for the measures we are taking.
I was thinking that we kind of have to handle it like we do with SPAM on the computer. They say the worst thing to do is to reply to it; DELETE IT is most of the advice, even though it takes some effort on our part. They have certain programs now to help get rid of this stuff but most of the time it is up to us.

So, from now on when a disturbing thought comes in or unpleasant TV etc, if it is something seemingly not not under my control I'm looking at it like I would the subject line of a SPAM email, and if it is not something I know or need to know, I am DELETING it and not going to roll it around in my mind like a piece of sweet candy.

I also meant to say yesterday after reading all the responses from those who say they never censored. I have a neighbor who has a seven year old grandson and he can hear and watch anything that's going on. He is rude and crude and has no sense of what is real, right...or more importantly...wrong

maybee, that's because his parents don't talk to him about what he's watching on tv. If you read our responses here from those of us who didn't censor, we said we talked to our children. Better yet, we LISTENED when they talked and gave them the answers they needed.

Also, someone up there^^mentioned a 3 year old who tried to French kiss. I can tell you that when I was a teen, a family friends toddler kissed open mouthed all the time. This was back in the 70's! Children just do that sometimes. It has nothing to do with what they see on tv. Besides, that child may have seen mommy and daddy kiss open mouthed. Can't blame that on tv. It's just an excuse imo.

I agree with Debby. I always talked to my kids about what my reasons were for not caring for their some of their taste in music or tv. I didn't just leave them be with no discussion about it. After a while they saw my point, their curiosity was satisfied, and they had no desire or urge to rebel.

I didn't censor my boys and they turned out great. If I had, they probably would have gone over and watched/listened to tv/music at their friend's house. Better to have them at home watching it with me, and all of us being comfortable enough to discuss it.

It sounds like the parents of the 7 year old are using the tv as a baby sitter and not fully aware of what he is seeing. He needs discipline. Even though I did not censor, I always knew what my boys were watching.
