OMG, Mona, thanks for that heads-up! How frightening. Although I feed my two furkids Taste of the Wild's Pacific Stream, due to allergy problems, I otherwise wouldn't have thought twice about feeding them Eukanuba. It's supposed to be such a high quality food. This kind of problem, if ingested,is so frightening and can cause terrible sickness and even death. I hope they get this fixed quickly.

Great! Thanks for the heads up! I've never fed my dog Iams, always instead opting for the better quality Lamaderm but the other wknd they were out of bags of what I normally get so I broke down and bought a small bag of Iams.

Iams also pulled all their can food from the shelves at Petsmart. If you have any in your pantry, return them for refunds.

I was ignorant of what goes into dogfood for most of life but am careful with what they eat now.

Oakleyok, Pedigree has been the subject of at least one recall that I remember. The problem I have with Pedigree is that you are primarily feeding your dog corn, not meat, and dogs are carnivores.

And their advertising is deceptive. Look at the ingredient list for "PEDIGREE WITH CHICKEN, RICE & VEGETABLES." They should call it Pedigree Corn dog food, since corn is two of the three main ingredients.

Thanks for that link Bumblebeez! Very interesting. We are good according to their ratings. We've always bought high quality food for our pup.

Our vet recommends certain brands, and we have found good foods available at Coop. We first used what the breeder had used, as it was evident how high quality it was just by the looks of her pups, but it was in a food recall at one time. We use some fresh food (chicken mainly) in place of using all dog food.

I could never feed a pet of mine Pedigree (or many others). Protein is essential for your dog!

Even thought the Wellness Super5 Chicken is rated a little low on protein, I give my dogs snacks several times a day that are little bites of all meat. Whatever we had for dinner, etc. No sauce or processed meat though.
Wellness Core is considered a great dogfood for protein and I would give that to my dogs if they hadn't been on the Super5 for ten years.

I feed my dog Wellness Core, but I don't see anything wrong with Super5 Chicken.

I switched to Core because it offers a reduced fat version. Regular Wellness Core is 430 kcal per cup, versus 350 for the Core reduced fat.
