I watched "All My Children" for 25 years and the Y&R, and Bold And Beautiful. I gave them up about 10 years ago and don't miss them one bit. Two years ago I stopped reading all "gossip magazines", People, US, etc. That was the best decision. Reading about the "stars" is not good for my brain. It's too mindless and shallow.

I watched General Hospital for 40 years, then it went downhill, and I quit.
I did watch it last week, when a character(always played by the same actress) was married. She started on the show when she was 7 years old, over 20 years ago.
I just had to see Robin Scorpio's wedding...so I watched it.

I used to watch All my Children but stopped about 10 yrs ago. I do read the week in review in the paper, but I don't recognize most of the characters. Some of the old-time regulars are still around, but mostly the show is geared to a younger set than me. Dottie

I've watched lots of them over the years but the only one I watch now is Guiding Light. I hate what the powers that be have done to the show and the characters but I have hope that things will turn around this year when Phillip Spalding returns.

The only one I try to catch every day is Y & R.

When I was a SAHM, all the soaps at that time could be seen where I lived as they never overlapped each other..I was a real addict then. lolol

I used to watch General Hospital all the time. I watch it occasionally now (and usually as a secondary task when I'm on the computer). Like Monica, I did watch Robin's wedding and was glad to see Robert and Anna. I liked the old characters but it has much too much violence and foolishness for me to enjoy it now. It has gotten away from the hospital and romance - they should rename it General Mayhem! And now that the girl who plays Emily is back, I'll hardly watch it at all now - she drives me nuts with her little gasps and intakes of breath.

I do watch Coronation Street every evening and enjoy it very much - ordinary people leading ordinary lives. No mobsters, no gazillionaires, no corporation execs - just normal people.

But Soaps are GREAT for learning English! :)

At least for me. However, I quit eons ago. Just don't have time for them, and also got bored with em.

Moni

I watched one for many years, but stop watching it a couple years ago. ... it just didn't hold my attention.

I watch Days of Our Lives almost every day. If I miss it one day, I can catch it the next because Global TV airs the NBC show a day early here. Same as for Y&R. I can watch both shows anytime during the day starting at 9 and finishing by 4 because of the dish. I used to watch General Hospital but lost interest. Also watched Guiding Light for years but when I went back to work when the kids were small, I stopped. I watched All My Children way back when some of them ended up in the old west.

I've watched All My Children since the beginning when Erica, Tad and Liza were in high school.

I have watched Day's Of Our Lives since the very beginning in 1965, with my grandmother and mom! Just like most soaps, if you miss a day or two, it doesn't take long to get caught up.

I also grew up watching Another World...but that has been off for many years now.

when I was a teenager, back in the 60's, I watched two soaps-Love Is a Many Splendored Thing with the most beautiful couple-David Birney and Donna Mills, and Dark Shadows , the one about vampires. Both shows were cancelled long ago, or else I might still be watching them.

I watch the Y & R.

I quit Soaps many many years ago. I got so frustrated and disgusted with the characters lying to each other about the most trivial things when it was obvious their lifes would be so much better if they just stopped keeping secrets and telling lies. I know, I know, it's the premise the shows are based on, otherwise they would get boring. Well, they were boring to me with the nonsense. So I stopped.
I had enough "daytime drama" in my own life!

I do watch Coronation Street every evening and enjoy it very much -Barbara 3-

I used to watch it too when Miami carried it back in the 80's
I watched Eastenders for years back then too. I taped the episodes when Angie Left and also when Den left. It had gotten kind of uninteresting there at the end. I think shorly after I stopped watching it Miami PBS stopped carrying it. I think you can still see some old episodes on the Internet/

I've watched General Hospital since the beginning, with only a couple of gaps where I quit watching for several months. One of the things that's great about this show is that so many of the actors have been in the role for so many years that they can do some great flashbacks -- like for Robin's wedding, and recently when Genie Francis returned as Laura Spencer for a short time. Kin Shriner was still there as Scotty Baldwin, so you can imagine the great flashbacks they had!

In 1995 I was invited to the set of General Hospital to be there for a day of taping. The day I was there was Ingo Rademacher's (Jax) first day -- so I saw him before anyone else! :-)

When I worked 11pm to 7am shift I had trouble sleeping during the day unless I had the tv on. I would fall asleep pretty easily with it on, but it also woke me up during some soap opera. I ended up watching The Young and Restless and As the World Turns for a lot of years. I've seen a few episodes of other ones too, but it was just because they were on and I didn't have a remote control to turn them off.
I've been laying around a lot the past few days because I've been sick. There has been so little on tv so I've been channel surfing. The other day I saw an older woman that was on some soap opera back in the 1970s. Heck, she was older back then. Anyway, she was talking to her dh on whatever soap this was. He must be thirty something years younger than she. I was surprised to see her, but thought to myself "you go girl". :)

I used to watch Days of Our Lives a lot. It was easy to catch up on things if you missed a few days. I haven't watched in probably a year now, but once in a while I still flick it on and try to figure out what's happening in Salem!
