I am very glad it's time to start up again! I think it's going to be interesting having Ellen on the show, and hopefully she will tone down the comedy routines, so we can stick to the premise of the show. We will definitely watch tonight, but we both do get tired quickly of the preliminary shows. So many of the contestants are utterly ridiculous and after a certain point, I find myself on 'overload.'

HOWEVER ... once they get to Hollywood, I'm a true blue Fan!

I can't wait. I love the auditions. Still can't believe this will be Simon's last season. It won't be the same without him. I wonder if they will continue the show after he is gone.

I'm ready too! Love the show, especially seeing how they all grow and develop their voices over the season. Hoping that when they show the Orlando contestants...I'll spot a good friend of mine from here (Vanessa), who tried out but was turned down because she 'chose the wrong song' for her audition.

We love the auditions too, they never fail to amaze me.

What do you think of Simon's announcement that he is leaving at the end of the season?

I can't imagine AI without Simon! Heck, I'm gonna miss Paula.

I think the show has 2 seasons left. This year it's going to go downhill without Paula, and next year, with David Hasselhoff taking Simon's place? That's going to be the death knell of the show. He's more of an idiot than Paula was on a bad day. I don't think it will survivve more than one season with him as a judge.

Darn...I didn't know it started last night.

We never watch the whole thing through...but love to see the first few weeks, while they are weeding out .

Were there any "good" ones...and I don't mean that they could sing well...

I did not hear that about Hasselhof! He is horrible on AGT, I cannot stand his wishy washy and sexual attitude. If he's a judge I am done with Idol.

I heard that Ellen was not on audition shows. Did not watch last night if it was on.....

David H? I guess they want this show to end quickly. He's awful and I think he's back in rehab.

Although Simon could really be a pain sometimes, he was always my favorite judge. He didn't sugar coat what he said to the contestants and he was always right on the money with his reviews, per my thinking. I'm also going to miss Paula, as she was able to counteract with Simon and make the contestants feel good about themselves, before Simon gave them reality. Although I like Ellen, I don't think I'm going to like her as an AI judge. This will probably be my last season of being an Idol fan.

With all this snow I don't get out much and all the days are the same....I might as well be living in a cabin, snow in on a mountain top...lol

I'm really bummed that this is Simon's last year. He and Paula had a strange chemistry that I liked. I don't think the show will last that long when they are gone, maybe 1 or 2 years at the most. I had read somewhere that he wanted to bring his XFactor show to Las Vegas for the American version of it. Wonder how that will play out. NancyLouise

Yes, Ellen said today on her show that she is not part of the auditions b/c that took place before her acceptance. She will eventually be on once that narrow it down.

It will be interesting to see who they find to replace Simon. I really like him and think he does a GREAT job on the show in terms of who really was good and not, and the constructive criticism he gives. He'll be a hard one to follow.

I'm afraid this will be my last year too...I really don't like Hasselhof or Ellen. I know Denny won't watch it with her on. And it's not any fun to watch it alone.

Sorry, but these early shows almost insult one's intelligience. Do people really believe that some of those "auditions" are real?? that guy with the big dorky glasses that pissed Kara off was so fake. Sorry, hate to be a bummer, but I can't take it seriously until it gets to be about the top 12.

I really wish they would stop featuring the nutcases so prominently in the show. Some of those people are a few bricks short of a load. What does it accomplish by featuring them? So we can watch the judge's laugh at how superior they think they are to people who clearly have mental issues?

In some cases I am offended by the judge's behaviour, they can be so rude. In other cases I don't understand how anyone can support the contestant and tell they are any good. Like that gal that designs kimonas who was so awful. She was clearly devastated, do you think that friends and family really believed that she had talent?
