Rigid pipe for A/C connection?

I'm remodeling the basement, and the connection between the heat exchanger outside and the main unit inside is about 25'. The connection is made with flexible piping (or maybe I should say "bendable"). Because of the gentle bends necessary to get it up the wall, across the ceiling, and back down to the main unit, it is interfering with some of my framing. I would prefer not to make several framing adjustments that stick out of an otherwise straight wall and ceiling just to get around the pipe.

Can the piping be replaced with rigid piping, such as that used for water, which would would allow for a more direct following of the wall and ceiling? I can't imagine flow rate of the freon being higher than standard water, though I could be wrong. If I can use standard piping, would the standard practice of sweating pipes (as used in water) be enough, or is the pressure too high for that and requires different connections?

Thanks!

Dan
