Need to protect my wood floors from my chairs

My beautiful new hardwood floors are getting scrathced up by wooden chair legs. I've tried the felt pads, but they wear down so quickly or the adhesive doesn't hold and they end up sliding off. Has anyone found a good solution?

find the chair pads that nail on. They last a long time and you can replace the felt part.

There is no solution that will work long-term except a rug. Eventually everything wears and you end up with scratches before you notice that it's time to replace your solution. Even if the pad/slider/whatever is in good shape, one little piece of grit between the floor and the chair and it's scratched.

I didn't put a rug under my DR table...I am resigned to having to refinish before we sell. Since this is my "toe tag" house...I probably won't have to worry about it for awhile.

you ban buy chair floor protectors or get heavy duty crafting felt and glue to the bottom of your chairs available at craft stores and rag shops.

Greenhaven, thank you. My marble is honed Vermont Imperial Danby. Ikatz, thanks for the kind words. Lesmobo, still waiting until the cardboard on the floors is gone to do a full reveal although I've got pictures all over GW. Oldbat-many thanks. I do love crackle tile & really have to restrain myself when anyone asks for backsplash advice. These mats are lightweight but stiff enough to store in a vertical cabinet for cutting boards, cookie sheets, etc. I love them & own 5 of each of the 3 sizes. They'll be everywhere for the large family gatherings. My version of Bee's plexiglass. Firsthouse, I ordered them from Home Depot and Kitchen & Company. I'm loving your progress posts.

I'm not a fan of rugs in a kitchen because of the risk of tripping (I'm a person that trips over my own two feet). We do have one in front of the patio doors in the eat in area. However, over the years the wood underneath is a bit darker than the rest of the area that wasn't covered. Our kitchen/eat in area faces west, and even though we have protective lining on our windows and doors, we still get a lot of sun. So just a warning that over time the floor that the rug covers may be a different color than the rest of the room.

Tap-in Safeglides...the ones with the circular rivet attachment...are the best...the felt is permanently bonded to the nylon body of the piece. Simply replace the tap-in when the felt gets worn down or caked with crap.

I have seen this type being sold under a no name label at some big box stores.
