I haven't found anything better than the felt pads. No matter what you put on the bottom you will have dust bunnies. Even the chair without anything will get them on the bottom simply because you are dragging it on the floor. However all felt pads aren't created equal. I bought a solid pad you cut in my hardware store when we first got our table and they lasted until all the felt was worn away. I bought those disks from the dollar store and they fell off, so the more expensive ones were better. When you put them on make sure the chair bottoms are very clean and dry to give maximum sticking power.

I wanted some finish under my cabinets. Originaly, the builder left them completly unfinished. The floor under the cabinets was absorbant. (I had to install new floors because they were badly damaged by chairs who's glides fell out.) Also, I wanted the floors to have some sealant on them, before all the trades walked all over them. I also wanted the floors to be sanded while we were at the Jersey Shore. I've lived through being in the house for a major sanding. It's not fun.

Yes, I confess, I am a closet clean freak. I try to pretend I am not but really I can not help it. I don't love to clean, I just can't relax if I walk on a floor with even one tiny little sand grit on my foot. Even with college roomates I was the girl cleaning at 3 am. While everyone was passed out drunk. I was raised this way. You should see my sisters. We all scrub our floors on hands and knees. No one walks in our homes with shoes on. Every night before bed I wipe down the floors in the kitchen. Maids quit with me they don't get fired. : ) I must be from a long line of cleaning ladies... When I gave birth to my first child, my mother and aunts arrived. My husband was shocked to find one aunt scrubbing the sidewalk in front of our home. She bleached the steps and walkway. It was then DH realized that he married into a family of clean freaks. Sorry to go off topic. I guess this is why the felt pads work for my floor. Here's a tip on how to determine if you have a leak ... this wont tell you where it is, but will tell you if one exists. Your "experienced" plumber should of done this if they were not able to find an obvious leak in the kitchen. Make sure there is no water running in the house. This means turning off all water inside and outside the house including showers, sinks, washing machines and any appliance that uses water. If you have a sprinkler irrigation system, manually shut it off. Find your water meter. If it's above ground it's usually on the side of the house. If it's underground, it's usually in the front, near the curb, under a metal plate. The meter has a dial with some numbers and usually a small triangle. If either the triangle is spinning or the hand on the dial is moving you are currently using water and thus have a leak. If neither is happening, take a close look at the current position of the hand. Wait 15 minutes and look at the dial again. If the hand moved, you have a small leak. If you do have a leak, I would suggest you first check the toilet before fretting about the kitchen. It's very common for there to be a leak in the toilet flapper that does no damage (just wastes water). Flush the toilet as normal and while the tank is refilling with water and 3 drops of food coloring. Check the toilet bowl in half an hour. If you see color in the bowl, you have a leak that will probably be fixed simply by replacing the flapper. Fix any toilet leaks and then repeat the meter test to see if there may be leaks anywhere else.
