I don't have to look at the site to be able to tell you I don't like anything ostentatious and I would not want the lifestyle. Fame does not appeal to me at all.

I saw pictures of Donald Trump's residence once and was completely turned off. It was just dripping with "fancy"--even the baby's crib was over the top. Ugh.

I was just thinking yesterday about something related.....Bill and Melinda Gates' home. They seem so grounded, and yet their home is like a self-contained town. I guess that was the point: to keep them as safe as possible?

Definitely not to this point. But I would love a large home.
Spacious rooms, a separate library/office, a dream kitchen.

These are humongous homes to rattle around in.
The RIM (Blackberry) founders live in my city, and Mike's house is reported to be 13 million. Another founder of a manufacturing company built a home worth 20 million.....he planted full size trees.....hundreds of them, dredged ponds, waterfalls....it looks like a golf course. The main house and guest house are hidden....best seen in the winter, but just a bit of them. The guest house is gorgeous!

Anyway, there are huge homes in my area too. I'd want something smaller than those (LOL) but still a decent size.

I don't care what you say, I thought it was fun to look at. Would I want any one of them....I would even take the smallest. I would sell it of course, and bank the money. LOL No I wouldn't want any of those houses. Big is not generally beautiful. However, when you see the appreciation on these investments, you can see why they buy them. Even in today's market that kind of real estate is a good investment. People with that kind of money aren't generally affected by the economy like the average Joe.

There's a lot I would do with my house if I had the money. An addition with CLOSETS!!!! would be most welcome, among other things.

Wow, there are a few there that I would love to live in, especially Jerry Seinfeld's house in the Hamptons. I love the houses that are not palaces and have architectural charm. I like Katherine Heigl's small home a lot.

I presume these people have the money to maintain these places, too.

I'd just love to have a place big enough for the entire family to come and visit and not have to make a reservation to use the bathroom or sleep on inflatable mattresses. Maybe in my next life.

I, too, couldn't keep up with the dusting. Altho, I would like an additional room....or maybe the house next door for an additional garage, bath and bedrooms...nah, more dusting! Having DD living with us has great advantages as she cooks and cleans and takes very good care of us, but an extra bedroom and closet would be bliss.

I told my husband I want to have a big house and a big dog before I die.

And we're not talking ostentatious, a house around 2,500sf would do.

Of course a big dog would require a big back yard, not the 16x16' postage stamp our builder called a yard.

But, we've been in the house 32 years and it's been paid off for a while now allowing me to pursue my passion for travel. So it's all good. :-)

Yes, as I've always said, everything's a trade-off. Your house may not be quite as large as you'd like, but you get to travel. I have no closets, but I live on 31 acres. :-)

No, I would not want that lifestyle, it is too thing oriented. Many of the homes are on the market why? Yeah, I think I will settle for the love I have with my hubby. We have done L.A. house searches for the past couple of years, my boss spends a couple of months in LA each summer and he rents a home. I cannot get over the way folks live there! But even he says that he could not take it fulltime, too plastic. Those homes are huge but I guess if one is that famous one cannot get out and about the same way others do so you need all the 'stuff'?

Our home is very large for the two of us, but the 6 cats help fill it!!!! LOL!

That home is pretty, lynn I only saw 4 pics but it doesn't sprawl like the ones we're talking about. Beautiful views.
On television I saw a monster home that Mike Tyson had.
It was sooo sad. He admitted that the decorator picked every little thing on his tables and bookshelves. Not a real memory of something a friend gave him or a place in time. No family pictures. Nothing to call home. He went bankrupt too.

If I were a movie star I would be embarrased to live in any
of those homes. Brad and Angelina's home is on a cliff. I don't get that. Also this is only one of a couple of houses the stars have. It's not that my life has been so suppressed that I can't think bigger. But gilded crap like the Donald has? Does the house represent their salary?

I'll sound like a Pollyanna and that's fine but they can get tax breaks by helping out the hundreds of towns that are dying out. Start a manufacturing company in one of them. Everybody wins. Make your own cloth, manufacture clothes here in America again.

I want to believe Brad Pitt is still helping the people in New Orleans. There are other stars too.

Can't understand why people still are without the basics there. That town has had constant help from Ellen D and Harry Connick and I guess the government. What's up. Are the officials maybe a little corrupt?

I wish I could've enjoyed them, but I just couldn't stop thinking about how long it'd take to clean them.

I did like the looks of Larry King's house. I just don't understand why people need so much room. I guess that 1% doesn't have to worry about taxes, utilities or upkeep. Just think what the taxes must be!!

Well, at least the upkeep has to keep several people in jobs!
