Since this is a day to celebrate " Maggie " and her great news of a wonderful visit to the doctor, I thought it would be fun To post pics of our dogs and other beloved animals and give them an extra treat today!!

They deserve it just because... ;-)

Oh Lucy, we were celebrating St Nicholas the same way !!! I remembered a day before it working so hard to shine the shoes/boots. St Nicholas would not give you anything if the shoes were dirty. The presents were candy, an orange or a banana which were something very, very special to get. In Romania at that time bananas, oranges, mandarins, grapefruits you will find them just before holidays. They were expensive and my parents did not have enough money to buy a lot of them. They had 4 kids to feed . If we were getting 2 ( one from St.Nik and one from Santa) the whole winter we were lucky. I liked banana so much that I never had enough even when I grew up ,worked and afford to buy more. When I came to America my mom told me "Now you can eat as many bananas as you want". I still like them and I eat a banana almost everyday. Not only, few month ago I bought 3 banana trees to try to grow them :)) Now you find all tropical fruits in Romania all year round. Nana, I got on last night with the intention of reading all the posts and commenting....of course when I saw the word "purple", that was the first one I read being me. When I went to comment I just started falling apart and realized I couldn't act 'normal' afterall. I'd finished writing my Dad's obituary and picking a photo for it a few hours earlier, so that's probably why I was a mess. tho I seem to be staying that most of the time. I'm clearing things from Dad's room, except things special to me, because I 'have' to. I need to see that room in a different way as soon oas I can. It hurts too much otherwise. The hospital bed has to go back to the VA, so I hope to find some different furniture for that room in the future. The gigantic old dresser needs to go, but Zorro can keep the easy chair. He claimed that years ago. ;o) Basically I'm just donating Dad's clothes and going thru loads of paperwork. He saved every scrap of paper and trying to sort the necessary from the useless has been a challenge. After Mom died 10 yrs ago, and he moved in with me, he really kept very little. "Stuff" was her thing, not his. He stopped driving when she died too, their car was totaled in the wreck and he didn't want another one. So Dad's belongings are very few, except his clothes and a lot of framed family photos. I'm so glad I don't have a lot to go thru again, like when we lost her. this is the photo I chose for his obituary, its how I'll always remember him with his wonderful smile, ready to tell someone a joke. hugs, Karen

Luvs, I'm just a lurker on this particular forum but I wanted to express that I'm sorry for your loss. I also wanted to let you know my MIL & FIL had donated their bodies to science as well. My one brother in law attended the ceremony that was held by the medical students to thank the families of the donors. He said it was particularly moving because the students told the families that they thought of the the donors as their teachers because they learned so much from them. And in our situation, my MIL was a teacher herself when she was younger, so this made us all so very happy knowing she would have loved to hear that. Wishing you strength during this time. ~Bee

rox - Xena and Kensi are so pretty! I can never get a flower to stick to Maggie long enough to get a picture either!

Hi everyone,
what a great post, Laura! I love all the pictures you guys posted. Just got back from my month-long vacation in Europe, so tons left to do but thought I'd add a picture of my two little Border terriers, Sandy and Josh. Josh is 11 now and having some problems with his spine. He used to jump like a rubber ball and the vet told me he sees a lot of similar changes in the spines of 'Frisbee dogs' as they get older. Maybe a reason to keep our friends from really extreme exercises... (even though they love it).
Let's enjoy our furry friends while we have them.

Thanks Laura for this thread...... Just love all animals... They seem to have a very special place in my heart. My first dog- posing with a Jeannie Moragne cutting courtesy of the sweet generous lady that started this thread ;-).
My 4 year old pup- Raider is always keeping me company in the yard and we enjoy our plumeria/Adenium time together ;)

Hello Everyone!!!

Just love this thread and I want to thank you all for adding you wonderful pals and kitties to this thread for " Maggie". She is having a grand time and I an Sure she is still wagging that tail. ;-). Love those glasses, Wendi!!! She is so precious!!!

Roxanne .. Xena and Kenzi look so happy!! I know they get all sorts of snacks for their cute tricks. I loved the pic of them with the flowers... You could post it even tho it touched my heart because they were sad.. Which made me sad. ;-). It still is a cute pic and we all loved it there with you.

I still have it stored on my iPad.. Loved it so... Mahalo!!!

Sand and Josh are so sweet!! They do look happy.. I hope the spine issue gets a little better.. Pepper had some issues with his , but he was 14. The bet told me he was the " Jack Lalane" of weiner dogs.. Lol. But you could t stop him from going up the stairs.. That's when he missed a step and hurt his neck. ;-(. He was a good dog, just to quick. He needed to remember he was getting old. But I couldn't stop him at times.. Love your babies!!

Thanks, everyone! I apologize for not posting sooner. Maggie and I just returned from Mammoth Lakes where she did lots of celebrating :-). We loved every picture and enjoyed this thread so much!
