fly, I also used to skate (at PSCHS) and laughed at that also-of course, that was back in the day when school figures were still heavily weighted. Sort of a shame they did away with those, I think.

I skated primarily at Tysons in VA (and Cabin John) with the --what was it called -- the FSC down in Maryland and DC--it wasn't the WFSC, was it? Washington FSC? I can't believe I'm blanking on that. I knew several folks, teachers and students, who came from Wilmington...it was the 70s...we probably shouldn't mention names on this forum but I bet we know a lot of the same people, even beyond the Finn Bros : ) (btw, have you heard about "Pajama Club"? very sweet (do I dare call it a "vanity-"?) project bet. Thing is, these results are more than a little surprising to me. Took the quiz 3 times & did indeed, get the same results. I could never in a million years have a career in math or science! I married my DH because someone in the household needed to be able to do math, LOL (he's a physicist.)

If I told you what percentile I was in on my SAT in math you'd just really wonder how I function in the world. Okay, I'll be brave & tell you the very sad truth. I scored in the 30th percentile in math on the SAT! That means that 70% of those who took the exam scored better than I! That means that if I'd scored in that percentile in Language Arts/English, I'd be functionally illiterate!I truly have no aptitude for math...zero, zilch, nada!

I scored in the 97th percentile in Language Arts/English. Writing in school was always my salvation. I could write my way to success in any course. If there were no opportunites for writing, then I usually didn't fare so well. So, I am startled that I tested as a "left-brainer!" Can't wait to tell my DH, & can't wait to have him take this quiz!

yeah, fly, 53/47, same as lyfia. Though I too laughed at the skating judge, with the emphasis on skating. As a southerner, I saw snow flakes twice before college. When I moved away, I bravely tried ice skating and broke my ankle 2nd time out.

Holy sun flares! I just took it for the 3rd time and got 60/40. When I took it twice in a row initially the results were pretty much the same. I was sure the third time would be more reflective of my creative, non-conforming side.

On these types of tests I usually score as very intuitive, and indeed am (occasionally spookily so) and I have a well-developed (inherited) creative side. Thanks to my great parents and lucky genes. But I admit I'm very comfortable with left brain approaches as long as I satisfy my pretty high need for aesthetics. Unlike SG, my SATs were fairly even, with the verbal 2 pts higher. Must be sun spot activity adversely affecting my right side as the day wanes. ; )

Yes, AB, I hear you! On Myers-Briggs I am an INFP. Intuitive, Feeling, Perceptive, yada, yada. Also, don't imagine TOO many people end up with results as polarized as mine on their standardized tests.

Unfortunately, I didn't like math, didn't see the point of it, & refused to "apply myself" toward learning how to master it. Could it be that a mathematical genius has been lurking in the deep recesses of my brain all these years? Like I said, I kind of wonder about this quiz!

Another 60/40 here. Not surprised at all. My math scores on the SAT were higher than my verbal. My dominant left-brain characteristic was "logical", at 59%. On the right it was "holistic" at 42%.

Somehow it all sorts out in the end. I've got a journalism degree, and am a lawyer now. I'm also a long-time musician and have a love of design. DH is an IT guy (mostly systems/networks more than programming), but I'm the nerd in the house who handles the money and plans everything.

Fly-too funny.

The HS comes from back in the 19th c. when the club was founded and all skating was done outdoors and much of it on the Schuylkill River. Members were required to carry ropes when they skated to assist in rescues if someone fell through the ice. In fact, we are still required in the by-laws to carry a rope whenever we skate outdoors! I kept my memebership for years after we moved to DC area, but finally gave it up. Still have my skates in the closet ready to go though! Don Laws was my coach and I imagine I was a disappointment, but he was always wonderful. Great guy and he had the coolest Jaguar XKE you've ever seen. I pretty much quit around '66 when I started high school. Fun times. I moved to ice dancing as an adult, but just for fun.

I will check out 'Pajama Club'. Thanks for the heads up! I am kicking myself for missing them at a local club here last spring-bad time of year for me at school and concerts were totally out of my thoughts-darn!

This was interesting. I've been an artist all my life, but career was IT/Networking and training engineers in computer graphic applications. Hence, my login name Emagineer. Terrible at math. Could never be a lawyer, etc. as the test suggested.

Also taught behavior analysis to employees. Test results will be somewhat different depending upon where you are (environment) when taking them.

I would be interested in knowing if you are at work, home, ect. when each answered the questions.

Yes, emagineer, I'm curious too as to environment and time of testing. I know creativity ebbs and flows, so perhaps that accounts for my left take over after a day with a few unexpected interruptions. I was home both times, but much more hot and tired by the late afternoon.

In 2003 I'd be willing to wager that if I'd taken this quiz I'd have scored about 11 on the left, 89 on the right! My life in more recent times has demanded that I engage the left part of my brain quite a bit more than I needed to in the past.
