Elephant ear- Large bulb type from Home Depot
Comments (12)Thanks for posting this question, dsacco85. I hope you don't mind me adding to this thread but since it's the same subject I thought it would be better to keep these questions together for others who might be looking for the same answers later. I also bought one of the giant elephant ear bulbs from Home Depot, it's very different from Colocasia. Mine grew from a grapefruit sized bulb to 2 grapefruit sized bulbs stacked one atop the other when I dug it last fall. The bottom bulb has shriveled badly over the winter but there are several smaller bulbs embedded into it. I'm very glad to read I can remove the lower section and plant the upper section seperate, should I dig out the smaller bulbs from the mother bulb or should I plant the whole thing and plan to seperate the bulbs this fall? Some could be easily detatched, but others are firmly embedded. BTW, one of side bulbs broke off as I was loosening soil on Monday, by Wednesday it appears to have calloused over nicely. I was thinking of dusting them with old rooting hormone but cinnamon seems like a much better idea. Also, I would agree with Evan that perhaps you should leave more top when you cut back next fall. I left about a foot of stem on mine and it dried quite well over the winter. On the other hand, my mother bulb did shrivel over the winter, I wonder if that would have a difference? Fun thread. Comments (3)Only you can know the answer, as only you know both of them. You could ask yourself what SS would have to gain from 'playing you' and then what would BM have to gain? Based only on what you've said above (and reading all your previous postings) I think it's possible it could be BM. For example, SS knows there is no party. He knows family dinners are what your family does for ALL the children. Another example is her saying that 'he needs attention from Dad'. You know in reality that if Dad is not working Dad is spending time with you and the kids. The one who does not KNOW what is happening in your house and/or how things like parties are done is BM. You know what she claimed to DH is silly, but she does not know that. The knowledge/lack of knowledge might be your key to your answer as to who is 'playing'. SS might be whining about a big wonderful birthday party for your son to his BM in an attempt to play her guilt so she will buy or do something for him. She did not deliver when she had promised him for his birthday, perhaps kid is trying to make her think no one at your house does anything for him but just the other kids 'boo-hoo, BM, feel sorry for me and buy me something'. 'Boo-hoo, BM, Dad does everything with the other kids but not ME'. Maybe he's 'playing' her ! Another thought is could she be trying to put off bringing him home on a drinking day (Sunday) vs a working day for her (I'll assume she works Monday)...in other words, she can't drink all day with her husband and drive SS around drunk or merely having to drive SS around interfers with her plans of wanting to spend the day drinking. Perhaps SS spending staying over an extra day has nothing to do with SS's desires but rather trying to rearrange her weekend to suit her own agenda of selfishly drinking her Sunday away? DH needs to make clear to BM that he will not tolerate her drinking and driving son. If she wants to drink herself to death, that's her problem, but if her drinking is involved at any time during transport of SS it puts SS at danger....See MoreWho's cell phone is umbilically attached?
Comments (39)I LOVE MY CELL PHONE! It is my camera. Video camera. My own private little juke box! My phone and address book. My calender and reminder service! Even my alarm clock! It is my only phone also. Not my internet connection though. If I lost my service I wouldn't really care. I still love my little toy! I have captured moments with grand children that I would have missed, had it not been for my cell phone close. Those videos make me smile anytime I watch them! I tend towards texting more than calling. I can shoot a quick text and get an answer, whenever.... saving me the time of a phone call. But no, we are not tied to one another. I catch flak all the time from people who expect an immediate response to a text or a phone call answered. Because they are glued to theirs, they think everyone is. I am amazed by people addicted to theirs. I worked as a cashier for years, and noted that many people handicap themselves with their phones. One hand is just as well be in a sling. They can't use it, because it holds their cell phone. When I am face to face with people and my phone goes off I silence it. I do not acknowledge the phone until I am alone. I am shocked at how many people think I am RUDE by doing that. I explain I am with them, giving them attention. Do they really want me to ignore them? But they seem more concerned about the fact I might ignore them when they text or call... sometime in the future.... over paying attention to them now. It makes me chuckle... I just don't get it. What doesn't make me chuckle is parents with children, who ignore and neglect their children, for their phones. I am seeing this more and more, and it angers and saddens me. Of course, when you see this, you see children acting wild. Negative attention from their parents is the only attention they get, but it still attention. The kids do whatever they can to get mommy to remember they are there. Here is where I have the urges Caroline has.....!!!! Caroline... the body slam.... LOL.... phone rage...! LOL The stupid conversations don't bother me, as much as amuse me. How people can forget they are not one-on-one alone talking to that person, I can't fathom! They publicize things you would think they wouldn't want to share with the world! High 5 to the young man ditching Miss Verizon!!!! I agree with kfca37... people are afraid to be alone......See MoreIRS Phone Call
Comments (29)I think the calls are hilariously pathetic. English obviously not their first language, so when they try to frighten the living daylights out of people, it just comes across as ridiculous. Sometimes, I'm tempted to answer, act like I believe them, pretend to freak out and just keep them hanging on for a good long while, wasting their time until I tell them to shove it. Eh, obviously not tempted enough since those calls go to the machine like all the rest whose number I don't recognize....See Morejemdandy
