The strand woven bamboo will probably be more durable. It is made with strands of dried Bamboo and usually a low voc adhesive. Then heat pressed with 1500lb+ of pressure. Making it extremely dense, more so than other hardwoods. It can still scratch and dent but not as easy as other Bamboo or Hardwoods. Cork is softer under foot. Very comfortable. More susceptible to scratches. Can yellow or fade with lots of light. Very quiet. Very environmentally friendly. Entirely renewable material. Hope this helps.

I purchased Teragren Flooring in Auburn, Washington. Within hours my floor was covered with dents. Upon calling the company many months and phone calls later they agreed to a "independent contractor" who was a Bamboo specialist to come out and remove a board and test the flooring. His testing results came back with a "manufacturing defective" floor. They then felt the need to have the floor tested by their own lab and low and behold the flooring is testing just fine. They will not stand behind their warranty of covering dents, they will not replace the flooring with the correct boards and they are not supporting the customer or standing behind their warranty. I have filed with the BBB and the Attorney Generals Office due to the lack of customer service. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TERAGREN FLOORING TO ANYONE. This company needs to support their customers.

1. Where did you buy your flooring? (e.g., Home Depot, BuildDirect.com, etc.) We bought at Lowes, special order and waited till they were having 20% off of SO flooring. We could have bought the same from Simple Floors for a better per sq ft price, but the freight cost would have brought the total price much much higher. 2. What brand did you buy (e.g., Teragren, Morning Star, etc.) For the life of me I don't find a "brand" name on any of the boxes. 3. What color type did you buy: natural, carbonized/carmelized, or stained? We got stained, Jacobean. It's almost black 4. What type did you buy: horizontal, vertical, woven strand, or engineered? Horizontal 5. What is your flooring installed over? (e.g., below-grade slab, above-grade slab, OSB sub-floor, etc.) Above grade, what ever that pressed chopped up wood stuff is. (like my grasp of the technical terms?) 6. Did you let the flooring acclimate to your local humidity before installation? (i.e., took it out of the boxes and made sure each piece was exposed for several days.) Some yes, but we ran out of acclimated planks to finish the job and used some that wasn't and it's a problem. The unacclimated creaks something fierce. 7. Who installed it? You (mention your level of experience), a handy friend, or a contractor? My husband and I are installing it. It is our first flooring project. It's labor intensive and at points challenging, but a simple rectangular room really shouldn't pose too big of problem if you are willing to learn and patient enough to think things through before charging ahead. We are installing it throughout our entire house. So far the most challenging space was our upstairs hallway as their are five doorways, a tiny closet and the bannister of the stairway as well as the top stair nose for the hall landing. We are hiring a flooring expert to come and tutor/babysit us for the staircase next weekend. We will do the work, we just want supervision. 8. Did you put an additional coating on your floor at the time of installation? If so, what kind? No additional coating. 9. How long have you lived on the flooring? Youngest daughter's room was done in April, the rest of the upstairs has been completed within the past two weeks. We had supply issues with Lowes. 10. What type of traffic does the room get? Youngest daughter is six and has very hard toys (legos, polly pockets, sweet streets etc) and they hit the floor pretty regularly, and we've had no damage. We don't wear shoes in our house and we don't have pets. 11. Are you happy with the floor? Love love love it, and can't wait to finish the downstairs. 12. If you're not happy with it, please name specific problems. The only problems we have had are supply issues with Lowes. The folks in my Lowes have been nothing but polite and professional, it's the suppliers. The stairnoses have been ordered 7 times now. Six times they arrived damaged, four times with the wrong finish on them. Hence the long wait between the first room and the remainder of the upstairs being completed. We needed to be sure that we would be able to get the stair nose pieces before we committed any further effort into the project. Here's a photo of our hallway. Sophia Wheeler--no, it's not gall. Cancork promoted this as a DIY floor. We checked each step with them along the way. We hired a local general installer because there was not a specialist in the area, and Cancork said that was fine. The subfloor was within specifications. We checked that and, again, OK'd it with Cancork. Cancork told me at the time that they didn't tell me about adding a cork underlayment because "most people don't want to do it because of the expense, so we didn't think you'd want to." As for the peeling, it is not in one of the birdbath areas. The peeling is starting from a few very small spots (like 1x2 cm) in one area of the floor. The floor was prepped properly--exactly as per specifications by Cancork before applying the poly, and they specifically said only to vacuum carefully and then run a damp microfiber over it (no cleaning product) before applying the poly. They warned me against scratching the floor or abrading it before applying the poly. In fact, we had to prep it in sock feet to keep any abrasion from happening at all. I understand that things happen, but within 6 months, when we did everything as per Cancork's instructions and now they tell me that we didn't do it properly--that is truly gall.
