Its hard to tell exact colors with online photos, but I think grey would look good. The only thing might be a cleaning issue if it is light grey.

I love your tiles, the stone on your fireplace and your wall color. I think gray grout would look look great. On my computer screen, the first picture shows more gray coloring in your tiles. I'd try and match the gray in your tiles...looks to me like it's a medium gray, not light & not dark.
Can you tell me the brand & the name of your wall paint color?

The paint color is a long story

I wish I could tell you the paint color, but due to Lowes not being able to match their own sample strips (valspar) I have no idea. We got two gallons of the paint, supposedly was CHH "Cincinnatian Hotel Hannaford 3007-10C" We waited a while before actually painting. So I had to go back and get them shaken again.

We really needed 3 gallons. My Dh thought he saw a hole in one of the walls we painted to he patched, sprayed texture. So I would need to repaint. We needed the other gallen so I go back to lowes get the same CHH paint swatch above. Get home paint the touch-up area and the new paint is yellower than the rest of the wall.

So I go back to lowes with one of the cans from the first time we painted. They try again, no luck still yellow. Then I notice that the paint swatch more resembles the yellower version. So what did they do the first time for those two gallons, labeled the exact same? It doesn't seem to be the CHH, but that's the label.

The paint in the baseboard picture is a little different. It's greyer. That resulted when they tried to color match the paint from our first can. It didn't really match when we got home, this time greyer.

So I ended up repainting the one wall in the yellower version. The pain by the fireplace is the original. They don't have a name.

Aren't you sorry you asked? Lesson learned get extra gallon at the time you order the paint to be mixed. Later you'll never get an exact match.

Are your tiles gray or beige? I usually aim for a grout color in about the middle (light/dark wise) of the color spectrum of the tile. So if they're gray, then a medium gray would look good. If the tiles are beige, I'd do a beige shade of grout, not gray.

I agree with Weedyacres, that we need to know what colors are in your tile since the colors vary in the different pics on my monitor and I am sure the monitors of others on this forum. I also like a grout color in the middle of the color spectrum of the tile. I love Weedyacres' tiles and Mushroom grout color so much in her pics that I chose a tile very similar in color and the same Mushroom grout color. If my tiles would have had some gray in them (they did not), I may have chosen the Antique White that had a grayish cast to the grout color.

I love my tiles with the jagged edges but I see now that those type of edges make the grout lines look wider so I like your very square edges. I think in my kitchen, I will go with tiles that are bigger with a very square edge so I can have a thin grout line.

I do like your tiles and fire place a lot and hope you post pics when you are done.

Grey grout is a sensible choice when it comes to cleaning. The white tile foor in my kitchen has black grout and I'd hate to see what it would look like if the grout was white. The grout on my bathroom floor is white and very difficult to keep clean.

"Mopwater gray" is, IMO, the ideal choice for grout color for most situations. You can tilt it a bit toward the blue-grays, brown-grays, green-grays or even purple-grays -- but 'mopwater gray' is what you'll end up with in a few years no matter what...

The tile has dark beige, light biege and gray flecks in it. We did go with a light gray grout and it looks fantastic. The gray flecks are a little troubling as I try to wipe off the grout glaze. I keep rubbing and it only the gray flecks in the tile so doesn't come off. LOL!

nutbunch, I can't wait to see a picture. Since the tile has gray flecks in it, I am sure the light gray grout looks fantastic.

Actually the baseboards are in as of today, I just didn't bring my camera again.
