We very seldom need to add moisture in our home, but when we do, boiling water on the stove helps or spritzing the air with a fine spray water bottle seems to help. That's cheaper than buying a humidifier.

We don't....probably should to some extent though. We have hot water heat and I don't think its quite as drying as forced air, winter up here is so drying on everything! We used to run a big humidifier for a couple winters your mouth and throat felt so much better when you woke up in the morning. That was a pain to maintain that floor humidifier.

I do, by hanging most of my laundry on free standing racks to dry. I have three racks. That way, I can put a bit of moisture everywhere. ;)

Free (except the purchase price of the racks), cheap, easy. :)

Yes, I do. It's a humidifier on my furnace. It gets checked out every fall along with my furnace.

Yes. We have a gas furnace with a built in humidistat. It hasn't been real dry yet this year. Even with the humidistat, we sometimes still get static shocks, and have to change the setting on the humidistat to compensate.

Sure do. Living in an apartment, the heat is gas, but not forced air.
The 3 furkids spark when they get petted, and I feel horrible, especially when their nose accidentally gets shocked.

Have a humidifier going (a tower Bionaire) and a few trays with pebbles in amongst the plants.

I always use a clothes dryer on the balcony; summer and winter. We love bringing it in when they're completely frozen. The smell as they thaw is wonderful! The temp drops immediately in the apt, and it adds moisture. The youngest cat makes a beeline in under the clothes and goes to sleep! Must love the cold and fresh air smell as much as we do.

Only once in a while, our southern winters aren't as dry as northern. So I just put a big pot on the stove to boil gently. As long as I'm at it, I throw in a quartered apple, cinnamon and a drop of vanilla. If I need it in the bedrooms (when it's dry enough to get the kids coughing) I have two small humidifiers.

We keep a large pot of water on the wood stove, it's amazing how often we have to refill it. Used to use a cast iron dragon but he finally died. :( Now we have an ugly pot.

I usually open up the dishwasher when it is near the end and let all the steam escape. I hang all the jeans, heavy towels and things that take too long in the dryer. Over the weekend we usually have a pot of water on the stove on low flame...with a cinnamon stick in it. I hate to be shocked or shock one of the cats...I lived that way as a kid and just can't stand it now.

Usually a humidifier, but it's been so rainy, don't need it. Haven't gotten it out this year.

We have a wood fireplace insert so we definitely need a humidifier. It runs at least 6-8 hours a day when we're burning 24/7. If we didn't use a humidifier, we'd be dry as a bone and so would our furniture.

I dry all of our clothes inside also.

Our furnace has a humidifier built into it which keeps the humidity in the house at acceptable levels...I still get the odd shock of static electricity when it;s really cold outdoors though!
