Piano lessons as a child, but I gave up too soon. :(

I don't play any. I always wanted to play the piano or the saxophone.

Waaaaay back in 6th grade they tried to teach us the "flute-o-fone". Don't know what happened to mine. My mom probably rat-holed it and got rid of it. I was baaaad! I can't carry a tune in a bucket and HATE kareoke (is that how you spell it?)

I took piano lessons for almost 7 years when I was young, but I haven't played in years. It's still my favorite instrument. I also played the cello in junior high and high school.

I still play piano, but by ear. I had to give up the guitar because of fingertip damage from Raynaud's.

I haven't heard flute-o-phone for years. I played accordian. Took lessons for less than one year but my parents bought me a beautiful accordian. As an adult, I rented a piano for 3 months and took lessons.

I took piano lessons for years when I was much younger but to no avail. But it's not my fault. I contend that musical talent skips a generation in our family. Both of my parents and my great-grandparents were very musical as are my nieces. My sister and I are not, which only goes to prove my theory!

6 years of clarinet.

I took piano lessons for many years. I played the flute and then my dad bought me a piccalo while I was in high school. While in HS I also took organ lessons, and played for many years at Church.

I hate to say it, but I would be VERY bad if I sat down to my piano again....which sits in our dining room. :(

Back in 7th grade we had to play the recorder, I think that's what it was called, looked like a plastic flute. I was awful. Then in high school I took beginning guitar and was ok, unless the song had chords in it. I never could get the hang of them.

Clarinet and flute. My Grandfather was a big band leader and my father played in many jazz bands through the years.

Saxophone, while in High School, begun shortly after our move to the Prairies.

It was left in Korea, when we expected to return ... and, due to need for extended care for our son's eyes, we didn't. But I hadn't done much with it, for some time ... or maybe we'd have asked for it to be shipped back, with some of our other stuff (much of it stayed: not worthwhile to ship).

It seems to me that some of you folks should get back to those old loves - whadda ya think?

You could make beautiful music ... at a gathering of KT folks, for instance.

Music brings joy to people's lives - and canned music isn't quite the same. How often do we get together for a good old-fashioned sing-song ... or is such a substantial part of our (non-youthful) social gatherings? Except in church.

And, as for the youth and their music, most of it is mainly listening, not participating (as far as singing goes, though they usually do participate in terms of movement).

Funny, I'm married to a retired HS music teacher and I do not play an instrument.

DH professionally plays/gives lessons on: soprano, alto, tenor and bari saxes; flute and piano.

in elementary school the cello. my dad said it sounded like a cow...lol...

I play the flute. Started when I was 10 and played all through school, very serioulsy in HS, all the state band sort of things, and even played in college for a little while. Now I still play for relaxation. In high school I also played the piccolo, and I would love to have one now, but that's a frivolous expense. I played trumpet in pep band in HS, too, which my flute teacher would have killed me for... but what she didn't know didn't hurt her.

Uphonium (baritone horn) and harmonica (not at the same time, mind you.) I haven't played the horn in 50 years and the harmonica gets toot only occasionaly - I've lost my touch with it since having bridge work done and have gone on to other interests.
