I just use the long cycle white bread loaf recipe that came with the book.

This is my favorite

YORKSHIRE SPICE BREAD
(1 1/2 lb loaf)
3/4 cup warm milk
1/2 TB maple syrup (real)
3 TB margarine or butter
2 TB Olive oil
1 egg
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 TB dried orange peel (grated)
1/2 ts cinnamon
1/2 ts nutmeg
1/2 cup raisins
2 1/1 cups + 2TB bread flour
1 1/2 ts active dry yeast

I grind my own orange peels in a coffee bean grinder after I dry the peels in the oven. I place the ingredients in the machine in this basic order. Wet first then dry and yeast last.

This is a dynamite pizza dough recipe!

Beer Pizza Crust
Makes 2 12-inch thin pizzas or 1 thicker 20x8 inch pizza. Preheat oven to 400Â. The tender, thin crust has an extra tang from the beer.

1 cup beer
1tsp salt
2 tsp granulated sugar
3 cups all-purpose or bread flour
2 tsp dried basil
1 ½ tsp bread machine yeast

Measure ingredients into baking pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Insert pan into the oven chamber. Select Dough Cycle.

Remove dough to a lightly floured board; cover with a large bowl and let rest for 10 to 15 minutes. Roll out dough or press into the pan.

To partially bake the pizza crust, bake in preheated oven for 10 Â 12 minutes. Spread with your choice of toppings, and bake again for another few minutes or until the top is bubbling and the cheeses are a golden color.

Note: I like to top it with basil pesto, ground beef, sweet onion, mushrooms, tomatoes and fresh basil, dot with goat cheese and then finish with pizza cheeses. Yum!

Best Bread Machine Bread

"This recipe is easy and foolproof. It makes a very soft and tasty loaf of bread with a flaky crust."

Original recipe yield: 1 - 1 1/2 pound loaf.

1 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 (.25 ounce) package bread machine yeast
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon salt

Place the water, sugar and yeast in the pan of the bread machine. Let the yeast dissolve and foam for 10 minutes. Add the oil, flour and salt to the yeast. Select Basic or White Bread setting, and press Start.

Can also add a diced jalapeno and a cup of cheese for jalapeno cheese bread

My favorite:

Pepperoni Bread
ItÂs a loaf of pizza!

1 C + 2 T water
2 T sugar
3 C bread flour
1-1/2 t garlic salt
2/3 C pepperoni slices chopped
1-1/2 T Italian seasoning
1/3 C mozzarella cheese
1-3/4 t yeast

Add to breadmaker in order listed. When placing the pepperoni in, mix into the flour to coat the pepperoni. Use a basic white cycle and a dark crust for best results. Do not use timed cycle for this bread. When done, remove and cool on a rack. Heat some pizza sauce or tomato sauce mixed with garlic salt and Italian seasoning and use for dunking to serve as an appetizer. ItÂs delicious toasted. Best if served warm (microwave is fine).

bizzylizzy at the harvest forum posted this recipe and since I tire easily I have been using the dough cycle on my bread machine to make it. I usually take my bread out of the machine and bake it in traditional pans but not always. I halved this recipe and it was perfect for a 1 1/2 pound loaf...and it was sooooo good. Remember if you make it in the bread machine...halve the recipe.

Grammy Mabel's Oatmeal Bread Recipe

2 Cups Scalded Milk
2 Cups Rolled Oats (NOT Quick Oats)

2 Cakes Yeast, or 2 Tbsps Superyeast
4 Large Spoons Sugar (Tbsp)
3 Small Spoons Salt (tsp)
1/2 Cup Water Water
4 Large spoons Melted Lard or Butter ( Tbsp)
5 Cups Bread Flour

Method:
Add Scaled milk to rolled oats, mix well, let cool.

Small bowl, combine yeast, sugar water and melted lard, add a 1/2 Cup flour to the yeast mix, let stand 5 minutes.

Large Bowl, combine remaing flour and salt, adding the yeast mixture, then the cooled oats.

Toss on board, knead and shape into ball, place in greased bowl,brush top with melted butter, cover in warm place and let rise to double in size, about 1 1/2 hours.

Next, place on floured board, knead 1 minute, shape into 2 loaves- Put into small greased bread pans, brush tops with melted butter, cover in warm place till double in size.

Bake in hot oven 400 degrees for 15 minutes, cool over to 350 degrees bake for 45 minutes or till hollow sound.

Variation: Multigrain Rolled Hot Cereal for the Oatmeal, I get 7 Grain at the Mennonite store to make 7 grain bread.

I start my bread in the machine, but then take it out and bake it in a regular loaf pan in the oven. Everyone likes the look better and I find it easier to slice but you can go ahead and just follow your machines instructions and bake it in the machine. Here is the recipe for 1 1/2 loaf.

Buttermilk Bread
2 1/2 Teaspoons Dry Yeast
3 Cups All Purpose Flour
1 Teaspoon Salt
2 Tablespoon Sugar (or 3 Tabs. Honey or Maple Syrup)
4 Tablespoons Powdered Buttermilk
1 Tablespoon Sweet (unsalted) Butter
1 Cup Warm Water

Follow the directions in your bread machine's instruction manual.

Since I am going to take it out, I knead it on manual setting. Sometimes at that point I have to add 2 Tabs or more flour to get the right feel if it is too sticky. Then I take it out and put it in the greased (with butter) loaf pan I will bake it in. Then I let it rise for 30-40 minutes covered with a light cloth.

Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Let cool completely before slicing.

I got a new machine a month ago, and it's the Black and Decker horizontal loaf machine. It makes 2-3 lb loaves. The recipe/instruction booklet is a joke, so I'm trying to use my existing recipes from my previous 1.5 lb maker. I'm not sure they are accurate though.

I'd love to make aptosca's recipe in my machine. Aptosca, do you know how much I would need to increase the ingredients?

Jasdip, if I read your post correctly, your machine makes two 3# loaves? I would use one recipe of aptosca's recipe for each of the loaves it makes. Does it have two seperate loaf pans? Or does it make either a 2# or a 3# loaf? My first machine made my choice of a 1# or a 2# loaf but only had one pan. If you only have the one pan, with the capability of making a 3# loaf, try doubling Aptosca's recipe. Read your manual to see what the largest amount of flour you can use in the machine at one time. That will help you decide if you can double her recipe.

I only use my Kitchen Aid mixer to make my bread now. I wore out my first bread machine, and the second one I bought I don't like. It never seemed to rise right or bake right or something. And even tho it was supposed to be a 1# or 1 1/2# loaf, it would never switch from the 1# setting.

My machine makes 2, 2.5 and 3 lb loaves. One rectangular pan with 2 kneading paddles.

The stupid manual isn't consistent at all with the amount of flour, and I did some online searching for decent recipes for this breadmaker but to no avail.
I'll try doubling hers and see what happens.

The rectangular shape makes it nice for slicing. I've made a 2 lb loaf with not bad results.
