I don't have the time at the moment to see what are matches but they need to be matching and by all means TXV. If you remember many of the older cars with air would freeze you out compared to 80's and beyond because many had an expansion valve of some sort. Newer cars have orifice tubes which are... like the piston setup. The txv will remove more humidity which will make the comfort level higher and allow a higher comfortable thermostat setting and this will save money and provide more comfort. The unit will also run better and will have the ability to adjust for conditions which will help with longevity. Piston almost always =builders grade which don't put out stellar numbers. If it is a heat pump check into demand defrost as an option and variable speed air handler either way or at least the x-13 motor. I have to prepare for a possible long day with a snowstorm coming and working for a utility it might get ugly. Many in here can roll you through the rest.

Hello, Sounds like it might be a couple of issues. First thing I would inquire about is why the condensing unit is shutting off... Is it off because the system Tstat has been satisfied? Are there any pressure switches on this particular condensing unit? If so, are they opening during operation? If so, either a low or high pressure condition exists and will need to be addressed. One scenario could be moisture remaining in the system that eventually freezes at the TXV. This would eventually restrict the flow of liquid refrigerant, causing low suction pressure. Telltale symptoms include the observation that it "runs fine for a while" then just stops. Or, maybe the unit is going out on a high pressure condition... Think overcharge or non-condensibles in the system. Either way, it sounds to me like the install company needs to spend more time troubleshooting/repairing and less time parts changing. As far as the unit failing to restart, as already mentione above, most definitely sounds like a hard start kit is needed. Common problem with a TXV system. Simple relay and start capacitor will solve that problem. Ken

What a mess. As long as the same hvac company is involved,you will continue having problems. If the warranty alows you to choose repair company,it's obvious what you need to do. Choose a company who agrees the coil worked well and will again as long as it is equiped with 410a control. Convince the warranty company they choose an inept contractor and needs to dump them in favor of one who can properly diaginois the problem. Based on past perormance,the problem may have nothing to do with the coil. You don't want to sink any of your money in this unless you have written assurance of cost and satisfaction.

Before I realized the extent of the shims issue and that it was an installation problem, I asked about molding and he said floor guys should do it. I told him I was worried about the paint matching, otherwise my husband could probably do it, so he said he'd paint them for us, then we can install. I haven't pushed back yet, as I wanted to make sure we are in the right here. Plus, we still would need to paint over any nail holes to touch up. They actually paint the cabinets at their shop, there is no factory. These are full custom cabinets. I'm going to tell him we aren't comfortable installing, and don't feel that it's our responsibility to do so. It's not straight forward angles anyways. His response above was to me asking if there were any plans to actually cover the shims, as the cabinets look unfinished. I asked about doing a longer toe kick, and that's what his response was, just using shoe molding, something he has already acknowledged that they had no plans to do until I asked. I'm just shocked they were actually planning to leave the cabinets looking like this and had no intention of coming back out.
