Substitute sweet paprika for hot and smoked?

I want to make a recipe that calls for 2 Tbsp. hot paprika and 2 tsp. smoked Spanish paprika. All I have is sweet Hungarian paprika (in the orange can). Can I just use that instead? Should I add some cayenne pepper or liquid smoke?

The recipe is for short-rib beef stew (Sunset, October 2007). The paprika is mixed with flour, salt, and pepper and is used to coat the ribs before browning them (in bacon fat). There is also onion, garlic, beer, tomatoes, and potatoes in the final stew.

Thanks in advance for your help!
