it might be a nice contrast to do the risers in cherry and the treads in teak - that way, you will see alternation all the way up the stairs...

My son has installed Amtico vinyl by Mannington. He thinks that is a good product. I have a wood look laminate plank floor. It is very nice but I am careful with it. If it gets wet it can warp. Depends on were your putting it. It is easy to install. We are going to remodel in spring and am really considering Amtico vinyl plank. Durable,can handle water and grand kids, dog and cat. It is also a less expensive choice for us.

Your floor finisher should be able to help you tone done the pinkness of the wood. They can put some samples of light color stains or sealer on the actual wood to help you decide. Once you decide, they will just sand off the sample areas. I think it's good to have contrast between the floors and the cabinets. In my opinion, the unstained stained/natural maple cabinets that you are thinking about, do not have enough contrast with the natural oak that you show. I have light golden color oak trim in my house (but my floors are natural ash) When I redid my kitchen, I used natural cherry cabinets. I think they play well with the slightly darker grain lines that are visible in the oak trim. Maybe you could get natural cherry cabinets or stain the maple wood to a bit darker or warmer color. do you have a plan?...too many dark cabinets [ wall, in particular] will close it in.....altho I like the java-dark!! consider dark bases with good toe kicks and maybe lighter wall cabinets or glass doors on wall cabinets or very few wall cabinets. Really depends on your plan.... I think If you want a cabinet dense kitchen I'd consider quartersawn oak in a honey or spice finish.....what other furnishings do you have..with the double hung windows I'm seeing a transitional style-is that what you have...blend of furnishings?? It would suit me to have the kitchen finishes an extension of the things in the foreground, rather than a lot of contrast...stay basic....medium stain colors I guess would be my first option.
