I also vote for slate, unless you want to blend in with the pool color.

If you're super thin, I'd go with the teal only because a lighter color makes a tan show up more.

Jen definitely the slate. It's richer looking and I don't mean $$! Nice suit, btw - what's the back? Not that I could wear one that high cut in the leg, but just curious.

Thanks! I'm really leaning more towards the slate - helped along by your votes, of course! The teal does have a matching cover-up skirt that's really cute, but it's $50 for such a small amount of fabric, that I think I can live without the skirt. (No matching skirt for the slate.)

The back states that it's "full coverage", so I'm imagining it's pretty basic and doesn't ride up so that butt cheeks go spilling out. Well, hopefully that's the case. The high cut in the front is slightly worrisome, but I'm thinking that since my legs are nowhere near as long and lanky as the model's, maybe it won't be an issue for me.

I do still like the teal a lot, but hadn't thought about blending in with the pool! LOL!

Another vote for slate, if you have brown eyes. Aren't you a blonde? Do you have blue eyes? If so, get the one that is closest to your eye color. It's very cute!

I would totally go with the teal-- it's more of a summer color and will look smashing with your blonde hair.

What colors do you wear? I am a blonde (ok, nudged on with a lot of chemicals.. but still blonde) and I look terrible in jewel colors. The slate does not look "slate" to me but more like a dark teal (teal looks more like a dark aqua to me on my monitor). Dark teal does NOT look good on me-- even with a bit of a tan. I know, I just bought a dark teal tank.

The cover-up skirt would be the final selling factor for me. It will make the look-- would you feel comfortable at a poolside bar in just a suit? Add a skirt and you are good to go.

I've seen your picture and, with your coloring, the teal would be stunning. It screams beach and fun.

I vote slate.. I think the teal would make your skin look too white if I'm remembering your picture correctly. Think your hair had a reddish tone?

I think I'm probably just gonna have to order the suit in each color and try them on in order to decide! Funkyart's point about the skirt is a good one ... no, I don't think anyone would appreciate me flashing my cellulite at the pool bar, and the skirt would help hide at least some of it. ;-) Yep, the suit is from VS.

I initially went for Teal, but after seeing both colors next to your skin tone I'm leaning toward the Slate.

Can't wait to see if you like that style suit. It looks great on the model and I really like the square neckline, but I could never wear that style. My shoulders aren't broad enough, the front always gapes in the middle and the straps slide down my arms.

I guess that might be part of the allure in the VS catalog!! I'm not in the same category figure wise, so perhaps that was also part of my problem!! :-)

Those clingy 10 lbs that surface in winter and used to melt off come spring gardening are getting more stubborn about melting away with each passing year.

Oh heck, who am I kidding, anyway. Even at my thinnest premarital weight (size 5 and I'm 5'8") I had no bubbies (as those NJ Housewives say) to speak of and a little pooch below my belly button (a genetic curse, thanks Mom). I always felt like a hard boiled egg in a slinky one piece! ;D

That kind of suit makes your bust look great no matter what size Jen. But I vote for the teal, it matches your personality and paintings and furniture. (lol)

Add some sexy tourquoise sandles and some hoop earrings and you will look like the babe that you are.

Oh, horrors! The swimsuit arrived today - I had ordered the slate blue, as the teal had sold out -- and while the package says it's slate blue, it's the most hideous color I've ever seen on a swimsuit. It's a dull, gun-metal gray that isn't going to flatter any human skin tone. It reminds me, in fact, of the color of a whale, and that's all I need ... let the beached whale jokes begin!

So ... back to the "fun" of swimsuit shopping for me, I guess. ::sigh:: It's just really disappointing when things are not at all as they appear to be in the photos online.

Do you like black? I have that suit in black. Black looks good on both pale skin tones and darker tones. It looks great with any hair color.

It is a GREAT suit that flatters any figure. The side seam being a bit forward give a slimming illusion and accentuates curves. The folds of material make the bustline appear fuller, yet the neckline is modest and does not show excessive cleavage. The suit has good butt coverage in back and yet the legs are cut a bit higher on the side to give the illusion of longer leaner legs.

That style you show in the VS photo has become somewhat of a "classic" and other swimsuit companies sell almost identical ones. Maybe another company has a better color blue that you would like?

Squirrel, I love that colorful suit! Alas, it's out of my price range.

Dilly, I went ahead and tried on the hideously-hued whale-gray suit, just because I was curious about the fit. It wouldn't have worked for me, even if the color was gorgeous, as it's a bit too short for my torso. I think I'll just have to try on a few suits in a store to see what works best. I've had good luck with tankinis in the past, so may go back to that style. Now, the problem will be in finding suits in the stores. Hey, it's July -- that means the fur-lined parkas are probably already displayed on the racks.

Try Lands End! They are having a sale... I think they have the best swimsuit selection , especially tankini separates.

I'm sorry that happened but not surprised. I could buy a new wardrobe with what I have spent on postage returning items that aren't quite what they seem. And so, have almost given up on mail order clothes. But it is so tempting when every store has a website and wonderful sales and I'm bored...

I'll admit I chuckled reading the whale color part! I'm sorry it wasn't what it appeared to be. I ordered a shirt from them once and though the main colors were black and red. . . orange and blue. Once I knew what the colors were looking back at the photos it didn't look the same. That shirt is in a drawer somewhere!

I hope you're able to find a suit! I was in Michaels the other day and they had all the fall stuff out already! I swear it's earlier and earlier every year. I haven't been to the mall in awhile but I'm sure they have wool sweaters on the racks!
