Steam vs. Hot Water vs. Force Air

Just bought a 3,800 house with a furnace generating steam heat and cast iron radiators (house circa 1934) and a separate 75 gallon water heater. I am adding a 1,500 square foot addition. Need advice on how to heat the additional space. A sunroom and the master bath will be radiant.

One proposal is to heat the rest of the new space with forced air with coils run of a new boiler which would be in addition to the furnace and the hot water heater.

The other, and much more expensive, recomendation is to rip out the furnace and hot water heater and convert the entire house to hot water radiators powered by a boiler. There boiler would also feed a storage tank for hot water supply. The plumber is saying that this would be much more efficient as I would have only one unit running and that hot water is more efficient than steam heat since the water doesn't have to reach as a high a temperature.

Help. Which one should I choose and are hot water radiators really the best option to heat a house?

Thanks.
