My Saturday morning surprise!

We live in the country and this is the third time in 25 years this has happened. The last time was a year ago January.

I went out back to water the yard and this is what came running to me, acting like I was it's mother. It's a female, we haven't named her yet (I need ideas!), and she's inside now, ate like a piggy, used the litterbox, and is now sleeping. She acts like she owns the place and gets along with the dogs. Now I have three cats. NO MORE. lol.

We think she's about 3 months old. I need name suggestions!

Donna and everyone, Yes, I have just purchased these bulbs. The virused plants that I seem symptoms on are Nerine, Narcissus, Hippeastrum and Sprekelia. There are no doubts in my mind that these are virused, there aren't to many mimics of virus in geophytes like there are in many other plants. The storage organs contain many of the nutrients they need so a deficiency is unlikely. The only other culprit I can think of are mealy bugs and spider mites and neither are present. Also, virus can present anytime of the season, it really depends on the individual plants as to when the virus is noticeable, some plants never show symptoms and some are so bad they present right at the start of a new growth cycle. I'm taking pictures, I had them in a barrel ready to be burned, I can pull them out and take some pictures if it's something that will prove educational. I'm not sure where they got them from to begin with and I don't feel comfortable posting who I got the bulbs from on the forum, you're more than welcome to e-mail me :) See the mosaic pattern towards the tip of the leaf and the very light stripe? yes, they're here year around & love to nest in my backyard. they have a special fondness for hanging flower baskets & always seem to prefer those with the most delicate and/or most expensive flowers in them! I put up a few fuchsia baskets rather late this year, so they've found other places to nest. Patrick

Morning! The weatherman predicted rain for the rest of the week until Memorial Day, but I didn't see a drop yesterday and today the sun is out and it's already 50 so I'm thinking it's gonna be a nice day. My DH, Dad and brother are taking my 3 oldest kids out skeet shooting today. I'm staying home with the youngest and I'm gonna see if my DM wants to go to the TS. ha Being from the South I grew up around guns and knowing how to shoot. My DH, Dad and brothers are all big hunters. I just surprised myself that I did so well after not having shot one in so long. Been like 10+ years. My DD is wanting to go hunting with her dad so she needs to get familiar with guns this summer and of course she'll have to go thru the gun safety course. I did see Bebe's post. Sounds like neither rain, nor sleet, nor kidney stone will keep her from her convention. hahaha She's gonna have so much fun. Must be some weird cosmic phenomena....my kids let me sleep in this morning too. ha I made it til almost 9am! I was tired too cause we didn't get home until after midnight last night. We went out to eat and to see the new Indiana Jones movie, then stopped for ice cream on the way home. A lady was having problems with her car in the parking lot and we stopped to help her so that's why we were home so late. I hear my mom coming up the stairs so I need to go see if she's interested in going with me to the TS. I'll let you know if I get any good finds. ha Have a great Saturday! I had a busy morning for a Saturday. Georgysmom made me feel guilty posting everything she accomplished yesterday ;0 I scrubbed and baked those 3 huge baking potatoes I got at the store for .83 and when they cool, I'll make twice baked potatoes and freeze all but one, which we'll have tonight. Did two loads of laundry and changed our sheets. Then I took everything out of my spice/baking cabinet and washed all the shelves and--now get this--arranged all my spices in alphabetical order. Isn't that OCD? I bought a thing called a Spice Stack. It is a metal box with 3 shelves that pull out and down so you can see the spices. Each shelf holds 9 jars, or double the amount of those little jars. It's really cool. So no more rummaging around and taking 15 jars out just to find the one I'm looking for. I was surprised I only had doubles of 3 spices. That was pretty nice so I cleaned the pantry, too. Oh, Phyllis, I wish you hadn't mentioned the "G" word (garage). Ours is a disaster. Marie-ndcal, did you flood again? Didn't you have bad flooding this spring, too? Bless your heart, you have every right to feel bad, but wish you felt better.

Our neighbors are about a half mile away, they "raise" farm cats to eat mice in their barns. They're big wheat farmers with lots of huge out buildings. I'm assuming this one strayed from their place and came here. They won't miss her. One of their other ones did the same last year, and we kept her. If they had a litter of kittens outside, they wouldn't know if one was gone. lol.

I had a Sophie & an Annie, so that's out. Our other cats are named after dinosaurs. Raptor, and Rexie (T-Rex). I'd like to follow the trend but boy are those names hard to pronounce!

What great names! I love the name Lizzie. I told my dh that and he said he liked it too, but we're going to sit on it and see if it fits or if any other names pop out.

She's made herself at home. It's as if she's always lived here. Right now she's sleeping on the sofa with the dog, has slept in the laundry basket, cuddled with me in bed. Workers have been in and out and she hung out with them in the kitchen. She's not afraid of anyone. I'm wondering if maybe she did have a real home and was dumped out here?

She's way too people friendly to be a barn cat. I need to take her to the vet for her shots and worming next week.

She also has really big ears. lol
