Ever Hire a Lawyer to Recoup Deductible?

Just curious: Someone brought this up to me awhile ago regarding our front porch when it was hit by a car.

We filed through our HO insurance and they went to the auto ins. of the owner of the car. A full settlement couldn't be reached bewteen the 2 insurance companies for the full amount that our HO Ins. paid us based on 2 seperate estimates.

Because their Auto ins. wouldn't pay the full amt. back to our HO ins. our $500 ded. was not re-imbursed to us from our HO ins. Needless to say $500 goes a long way for us and is not something that we can afford to throw away willy-nilly.

So it was suggested that we might want to consider suing (?) the owner of the car directly to get our $500 back. Has anyone here tried this and were you successful? What type of lawyer would do this?

We aren't sue happy people and DH said that if I wanted to persue it I would have to do all of the calls, but $500 could pay a few things off for us.
