Need Free EASY tutorial for ???

I really would like to learn how to make my own web site and also do special things for e-bay ads. Can anyone recommend a really easy place to learn and practice on?? I tried to use Pongo and it take ages to load after every practice and when i got to the part where they had a sample piece of pottery to practice on i could not understand all those codes and how and where to change them at. Would love to learn.

Thanks in advance to any suggestions for me and then what web host would be the best for a medium charge. Not a cheapie that doesn,t do justice.

If you have Netscape on your computer then I would suggest using Netscape Composer. It is one of the easiest in my opinion. There are many online tutorials out there. I learned on it and have used it for many webpages plus my Ebay sale pages.

You guys are the greatest. What a wonderful, helpful community (and frankly, just what I needed after a very tough week of people being difficult, unhelpful and irresponsible). Thanks. I love the tutorials for Audacity - and will probably want to play around with that some. But before I got those responses, I did some more searching and found a very simple program called MP3 Key Changer. It allows you to save up to 3 versions for free - so that will suffice for my daughter's purposes of creating one higher pitched and one lower pitched version. The free version may also save only a portion of the song - but my daughter only needs a few bars, not the whole song. The full software costs $45. So if we want further transposing, I think we'll learn Audacity. In case anyone finds this thread and is interested, this free download trial from CNET can be found here: http://download.cnet.com/MP3-Key-Changer/3000-2139_4-10463799.html My daughter loves singing, though. And I can imagine her learning audacity to change the background tracks so she can sing any song she wants in her own key. Bob - your links were great places to start learning Audacity. And Chugger - your screen shots are worth a thousand words. My daughter is 13 - and not quite at the stage of intuitively figuring her way around software. Thanks everyone. Lynn.

Greetings to you and your family, rivkadr, I am sorry to hear that your husband has had this distressing thing to deal with ... and these days are not good times in which to cope with such a difficult experience. Does his company offer outplacement coaching for people who are being laid off? I hope that your husband will spend a little while to depressurize, to reassure himself that this is not a reflection of his incapability, but part of the general business landscape these days. When one is under pressure, it is well if one can examine one's self, looking in an imaginary mirror if one is far from a real one, giving one's self a warm smile and a wink, telling one's self that that person is a person of value, while taking stock and making future plans. Has he made a list of everyone that he has known through life, with contact info and some info as to their training, skills, type of employment, interests, hobbies, vacation destinations and other items that he might find interesting and useful?? Have you, as well? Such a list often proves helpful when one needs various products, services or some other things ... ... and when one is looking for an employment position: ... who knows who might know of a situation which might fit one well. Which he's most unlikely to let you know about if he hadn't heard of your need. Often the more people who know about a certain problem ... the better the possibility of finding what one needs ... ... or, in addition, receiving some worthwile information which might be very helpful as one goes about one's daily business (or pleasure, for that matter). I send good thoughts and hopes your way, trusting that an opportunity pleasing to him may appear ... fairly soon. Good wishes to you both. ole joyful

Miele Tutorial Needed

Hi Guys! Livebetter, what happened at the appliance show? Did your dealer have any news for you? I am looking forward to hearing what you find out. I know there is a learning curve with any new appliance, so I am not going to let this spoil my fun and pleasure with these machines. Miele is a great product with many happy users, and I plan to be one of them. I can't figure out how to get the machine to do a cool water rinse, but I don't think the hot and cold are reversed. I checked and I think it is correct. I will do a wash with a pre-treat or soak to verify soon (these always start with cold, correct?). I have done some loads where I reduced the spin, but it seems that it should work well at whatever spin is already programmed for the cycle I select. I am not overloading the dryer. It must have something to do with the warm water rinse and fabric type. I was somewhat successful in reducing wrinkles when I did a fluff cycle after the initial one, but again, it shouldn't be necessary. It must be operator error. The 3 Tbs of Persil produced almost no noticeable sudsing, but the vaksa suds were huge! I used 50 ml, and even tho I added and extra rinse, there were still suds. Bummer! I'm going to have to figure that one out, too. Maybe not enough clothing (it was a smaller load). I will try the wrinkle free option too, and see what happens.

Hello ROSES: Welcome to the forum. Been gone traveling all day and am much too tired to search the net for you. All you need do is Google "how to mosaic" and you'll get lots of info. Before I started mosaicing I lived in the internet, learning as much as possible, along w/one little book. From there, you learn, as well as reading this forum. Perhaps your library has books on mosaics. There are lots of videos on the internet - just search by Googling.

You can download Netscape from Netscape.com, but I don't like their newer versions. I have version 4.7 andd think it's the best for composing webpages. You may be able to find that version on their website too.
I use Internet Explorer most of the time too, but keep Netscape for designing webpages.
I forgot to answer the second part of your question....I get 100 mb of free webspace from my ISP. I think most of them offer free webspace with their service.

Thanks a bundle for the info, I am leving town till Tuesday evening, but when i get back i will try it and post back on it to you. Thanks so very much. I know i could really save the money if i did it myself. Besides we change our products quite often. We design, build and handpaint little girls furniture and sell it at shows. Right now we are in Canton, Texas every month and really need a site so those can order and pick up in the month of their choice.

Thanks again,

Connie

You can make and test the "site" on your own computer, as long as the directory and file names match what you will be using on the web and you stick to plain HTML and JAVA applets. It gets tricky if you want to do server-side things like CGI and PHP.

Example: If you have a home page as ~fred just make a directory called website and make all the subdirectories you willuse.

website/images
website/auctions
website/blah

As long as you keep the links RELATIVE (/images/picture.jpg and not C:\\website\images\picture.jpg) you can test the links and debug the site structure. Then up-load.

For a text HTML editor I've used that compliments Netscape nicely, try Arachnophilia. Its careware - essentially freeware, but when you register it you promise to be nice to people. http://www.arachnoid.com/arachnophilia/

For beyond the basics web help, webmonkey is my favorite resource, and it provides a lot of code you can lift and tweak for your own use.

For your needs, a UNIX hosting package for about $99 a year and a collection of pre-configured scripts should be enough for you for quite a while.

Here is a link that might be useful: Webmonkey
