Ha, Jennifer--don't believe the hype : ) I'm not blue, no one in my family is blue. The cats aren't blue either! That's a lot of nonsense; you'd have to OD on it to a nauseating, sickening extent (I wouldn't want to drink that much *water*, much less anything else) for months on end and even at that it's pretty much apocryphal. We use it as needed to fight infections, disinfect cuts, etc. and have never had a negative side effect; the worst that happens is that we fail to get the positive effect we want because we didn't take enough. When I take enough, I can cut infections or colds out within a day. I can stop developing infections in puncture wounds (say, from thorns or slivers of wood when we installed flooring) by soaking the finger in silver. When the problem is gone, we stop using it.

We're also using it off and on for our cats, mixed in their raw food. That's where we learned about it initially, actually--from cat healthcare.

I think maybe the bad publicity is around because of a lack of trust, on the part of people in public health, in the average person's ability to self-treat with intelligence. Given the warnings we see on everyday items that must have come from a lawsuit (warning: coffee is hot), I guess I can see public health's point! I'll say also that you need to research it and decide if you want to try it yourself.

I have a friend that got very sick after taking collodial silver. She is normally a very high energy person, but got to the point where she could barely summon the energy to turn on a light switch. It turns out that she has a skin reaction to silver jewelry, so she's the last person who should have been ingesting the stuff internally. Just a word of caution.

Can you explain more about soaking a wound in silver? I get a lot of cuts and scrapes, not infections. Would it help them heal faster? What product do you use for this?

Very interesting. I've only had a chance to read a little, but from what I can tell it appears to be controversial.

Now that I think about it my co-workers wife used to get injected with a form of gold to help her arthritis. Its a medically accepted method so it shouldn't surprise me to hear silver has beneficial properties.

graywings, just when we need it. If I get a deep cut, say, and I want to make sure it *doesn't* get infected, I'll either make a cotton ball soaked in silver and put it on the cut for a while, dripping some in and letting it just sit there, or if I can, put the silver in a small cup and soak a finger or whatever in it. Then I soak the bandaid bandage part in silver and put it on the cut. We bought Sovereign Silver at first but now we make our own. MUCH less expensive, even with the increase in the price of the silver bar we need to use.

terriks, that's very sad to hear. How long and how much did she take? How is she now? Did the symptoms go away? And I guess allergies are allergies no matter what. Like an allergy to pennicillin, for example. I'm allergic to morphine, so I can't ever take it for pain or take anything related to it.

I don't know how long or how much silver my friend was taking. It was very scary, and she really had no strength and thought that she was dying. Even breathing was getting difficult. She did seek medical treatment, but was impatient when the doctors kept needing to run more tests. (I don't know if she told them she was taking the silver) Fortunately, she stopped the silver and her symptoms slowly went away and she is back to being the same high energy person as before.

Gosh, terriks, I'm glad that your friend got better -- when people get argyria I believe it's a permanent color change.
That's really lucky. If she didn't tell them, I wonder if her docs were a bit baffled that she somehow got better without any treatment or even diagnosis...
