We had our kitchen floor done with a higher end Karndean in July, 2010. Visitors always mistake it for real wood or at least laminate. It still looks beautiful and is very easy to maintain. I finally got around to applying the Dim Glo stuff which is supposed to be a protective finish. I followed the directions and gave it two coats, but it did result in some hard to detect (but I can find them) smears, which I will have to eventually use their included stripper product to get off. They no longer make Dim Glo, which I am sorry I used. Overall we are very satisfied with our residential Karndean. I saw the installation which was done by professionals who used a heavy roller to set it in right. It is not a DIY product!

I remain a skeptic on the raised tile over a range, from a grease cleaning perspective. I'm not a fan of that last tile anyway, it's a little too organic in the Gaudi kind of way. JMO. As to what I was thinking when I said herringbone, I was honestly not sure. I just threw it out there with no real thought behind it. Herringbone brick uses 2 bricks, right? Two going one way, two going the other? Google herringbone subway tile or subway tile patterns and I bet you get some hits. Honestly, though, I'm probably getting too cute here. If it's hard to envision, it's probably a bad idea. Deb PS - Maybe it would help to get a better handle on the goal here...is it to add color, or texture, or shine, or...what?

I, too have a box full of frame corners. I kept them after I left the art show company. Most were discontinued and they didn't want them back. I have a few ideas, but haven't actually tried anything yet. One planned idea is to mount them on the wall, (two or three, corner side down, a few inches apart) then paint them the same as the wall color, and then, mount gourds, cut in half with the cut side against the wall. The gourds will also be painted the same as the wall. Sort of a mono-chromatic, 3-d, abstract look. I hope I get some other ideas from this thread, I've got quite a few frame corners to work with. Awwwww - group hug : ) I've got the first coat dried on the boards, and I'll put the second coat on this evening. I'm leaning toward one of the F&Bs I *didn't* get, actually...it's probably the dead-on match for mine, and I'm curious to get a sample to see how the F&B formula makes it behave differently from mine. I'll cover a portion of some of the wall that will be demo'd with some primer, then put the F&B on next to mine. I'll take some pics then. btw, the colors I have are Pigeon (the front-runner, although Blue Gray is the one that's closest to Mine, so it's actually the most possible) and Hampstead White. I don't love Hampstead White for this application. The bathroom will be with modern walnut cabinetry, natural satin finish, and labradorite granite with big gorgeous inclusions : ) I'm still not set on tile...probably something golden and simple since I want it to match the rest of the 1st floor. And the room will be *bigger* -- we're taking out a weird inwards-divot that goes nowhere. The paint itself is really interesting. I don't get any feeling of anything being put in to make it flow...even this emulsion feels a bit chalky in the application. Can't imagine what the estate and the dead flat feel like. Has anyone used dead flat?
