Not happy with calico corner sofa

Just had delivered a sofa from calico corner. The frame is lovely and done very well. But the cushions are another story. The welting isn't sewn on straight. One cushion sticks out farther than the other. The back cushions don't sit flat on the seat cushions. And the seat cushions are wrinkled in the front. They told me they are comfort wrinkles!? Someone from the store stopped over today to take pictures and I am waiting to hear from the manager. Has anyone else had experience good or bad with calico corner furniture?

Upholstery manufacturers struggle with getting proper fit and finish for their cushions on sofas and sectionals more than any other quality issues. Their is quite a bit of science and engineering goes into developing the cutting patterns and the fills so their is correct fit that works with all types of fabrics and leathers. Its so important as to how skillful their product development team to get this balance correct. Throw in the mix also is how skilled cutters and sewers are to reach the optimum finish and fit of the cushions set by the product development dept. Considering all of the above is why this is about the number one complaint manufacturers receive, and the most difficult to get correct.
Calico Corners, previously was using Miles Talbott for their upholstery, not sure if thats still true.
The job they did is doesnt meet the standard quality that should go into a upholstered piece at this price point.

If you measure the seat cushions are the cushions actualy the same size or is one 1 1/2" deeper as in the picture? If they do have this much variation they should take this sofa back.

I had checked out their website already and it sounds good. I just want to make sure that it's a quality product and not one of those "you get what you pay for" things. Have you gotten your sofa yet and are you happy with it? What about the quality of the fabric and the feel of the cushions? I want a sofa that is pretty cushy and I was going to upgrade to the down option. Please let me know your impressions - it would be really helpful. I was also researching a sofa from Carolinachair.com. They seem to have a little bit better quality and better fabric choices, but the sofa I want is also about $2,000 more and I don't know that it's worth spending the extra money. Any input is appreciated.

I had mine done years ago and was very pleased. The cost for services was not unreasonable. My did used JCPenny recently and it took forever. Turned out fabric was not available but they never told her until after 12wks, then kept putting it off. If they had told her on day one she could have chosen something else. I would recommend making sure all items are in supply and stay on them regarding time, with any store.

The customer service at my local store is very good. I've bought many fabrics there and the salespeople have always helped me search through fabric and made suggestions when I'm trying to match a certain color. I purchased my slipcovered dining head and foot chairs at Calico Corners. The chairs were somewhat expensive, even with the sales price, but they are extremely well made and the slip covers are perfectly tailored. I think these chairs will last a very long time and I like that they were made in the USA. Also, the salesperson took the time to help me select a lesser expensive linen to match the linen slips on my side chairs. When they were first delivered I thought that the hem was cut short one one of the chairs and called Calico Corners. I took one of the chairs to the store and they actually sent the seamstress to my house. She showed me that the problem was how the slipcover was adjusted and after a readjustment they were fine. (I was more than a little embarrassed not to know this but I had no experience with slipcovers, and I do think the salespeople should have recognized the easy fix, but I was very impressed that someone was sent to my home.)

Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions so far. les: I agree the green is not an exact match and don't feel repainting the accent wall is a big deal. The interior designer I was working with at Ethan Allan choose a color scheme around my paints and while pretty, the overall feeling was sage and I told her I was concerned I may grow tired of that color and I also want to pull in a little something from the red family. One thing she suggested though I agree with is that it needs to remain light as windows are a northern exposure. Thanks for showing the fabric for the chairs in my picture. It is very close. I'll see if I can order a swatch and then once I choose my rug, one or the other may grab. johnatemp: Love the pic of your sofa. That is the effect I am striving for with the colorful cushions that can be swapped and changed over the years if I want a different look. Funny with the plaid I took very similar pic to one you posted and showed it to DH and he put thumbs down--though I personally liked it. With the roman shades I was hoping for something with more interest when down and also a scalloped shape when up as I feel the 8' wide window needs some curves to balance it out. Thanks for the suggestion though with PB as I didn't know they also did the shades. That is what I am thinking of pairing the two--but different color combination from RH. My color scheme will actually be similar to yours. jerseygirl: Glad to hear you are happy with the quality at CC. I'm in CA, but thanks anyway for the Wilks suggestion. piper: Yes, I'm loving that find also. I did get a mirror on Craigslist and ordered a set of buffet lamps for the sideboard. Will post when I get ready to hang. Found a set of matching drum tables today on Craigslust--only the are over 1 hr. drive away, but a good price. Still thinking what to do. tina: Hard to tell from the pics--but it's all the same floral--just different views. I definitely want to do the floral. It's actually quite similar to one an Interior Designer at Ethan Allan had selected for me which is double the cost that I can do this one at CC.

The manager of the store came out and refluffed cushions and she worked for quite a bit to get the cushions to fit better. She also sent out the man who steams their curtains to steam the wrinkles. Still isn't satisfactory, but the manager was on vacation for the past week so have not received word of what they will do next. She promised to make it right, but still waiting! Meanwhile I received two chairs that I had ordered when I had ordered the sofa. The arms are wrinkling on them. Overall very dissatisfied, will continue to work to receive a satisfactory outcome,as promised.

I'd say this is unacceptable. Not a quality job. Sorry this happened to you, but it is fixable...just make sure not at a cost to you! Good luck!

i know it's a little late for this, but you should never hesitate to decline delivery on anything that isn't up to your standards. i would have had them wrap the sofa and return. just an FYI. i hope you can get this settled quickly.

We bought a wing chair from CC and it was perfect. Don't know if that's helps you at all, but you asked for experiences good and bad Ã¢ÂÂ¦ sorry you are having such a bad experience! They are not inexpensive so it should be good.
