Oh, Diana, I'm so glad you like it. Your package has a funny story behind it. When i shipped it, they never asked for payment...and I never realized that until a few days later. I called to pay for it (so you wouldn't have to! LOL) The woman got into an argument with me on the phone insisting it had already been paid for, but instead wanted to collect because the package had somehow got valued at $300. Anyway, that's why it was delayed, and that's why it says COD on it. My apologies. I was embarrassed that they were asking you to pay for your swap box! And that cake plate...I think i'm going to go back to the store and pick one up for myself. But what's even better, if you take the top off, place it on the counter, and take the stand off and cover it...voila, a tagine! I had fun shopping for you, Diana. I hope you use everything in good health!

A belated Happy B-Day Lori!!! Glad to hear it was a good one. Mackenzie is such a little sweet heart to wrap the outfit you got the night before...awww!!! The best gifts are the ones that come out of no where --massages and clean car! aaaWWWWWWW! A little "bunny" told me you were all wishing me a happy day. Thank you! God, I miss you guys! As you can imagine, there's not a heck of a lot of time to check in here. I used to lurk quite a bit, but haven't even done that in weeks. Things will settle down a bit in a few weeks, so I hope to be back to share some fun with all of you. I'm sure I've missed tons. I hope everybody is well. I think of all of you often. In fact, just this weekend, my son had to use my cell phone because his broke. He was going through the address book and wanted to know who the heck Riverrat is. heehee. Remember the last time one of my kids snooped on me? They thought Shaun and I were having an affair. Life is good. It really is. Don't get me wrong, I miss Bob every single day. But I am blessed with what I do have. His death has changed my whole life and the outlook I have on it. I no longer complain about the little things. Perspective. I've grown up alot. I had a sinus infection yesterday so I called work, told them I'd be out, and I slept the day away. It was great and the perfect pampering. The kids came home from school and made me dinner - beef stroganoff. Sure, they fought the whole time they made it, but it was the best. The kids are getting so big. Brian is almost 17 now and driving. He's gotten so mature and responsible. Connor just celebrated his 14th birthday last week. He will be going to high school with his brother next year. They are getting so much closer. Mackenzie is still my princess and almost eight now. The other day she wrote in the dirt of my car: I miss you daddy. I love you. Then she made me drive up to the cemetary with it. Cutiepie. He's still such a big part of her life. I took the kids to the arcade for connor's birthday and Mackenzie was playing a game. Before she took her turn, she closed her eyes and said, Come on, daddy, help me win big! LOL In my "spare time" I have begun orgainizing a widow support group. I think I told you all about it the last time I checked in. Our first get-together will be April-May sometime. Cooking-related, life is pretty sad. LOL. I decided for the month of February, I'd stay away from the grocery store for the whole month except bread/milk - staples. I wanted to use up everything in my pantry. Let me tell ya, if you want to be an even better cook (ha...like I need to tell any of YOU!!!!), try this little challenge. It sure made me creative. Baking has been almost zilch. Again, maybe in the spring when things slow down a bit. Jeez, it feels good to be here. You are my family and I should spend more time with you. I'd still be in a gutter somewhere if it wasn't for all of you. Love you all!

Thank you, everybody!

And a special thank you for the email from Lyra this morning letting me know these birthday wishes were here (and the other occasional check-ins), although, truthfully, I do check in here much more often than I used to.

The kids are well. Brian, a senior, made All American in indoor track and will be a freshman at Brown University in the fall! Yes, I am beaming. His dad would be so proud. He was state champion, winning the same race his dad won as a HS senior 43 yrs ago. He put his medal at Bob's gravesite.

Connor has grown into such a handsome young man (just turned 15) with a heart of gold. He also had a successful track season and is doing well in his freshman year.

Mackenzie...she's not my little baby any more. She will be nine in a few weeks. Can you remember my first post after Bob passed? "How do you explain death to a six year old?"

We've all come a long way since then. As most of you know, I have found a wonderful man to complete my life. The realtor just called yesterday to say the seller agreed with his offer on 4.5 acres of beautiful waterfront land, and we are finalizing house plans. Seth has promised me my dream kitchen!

I'm checking out the kitchen forum, starting that process all over again. The KF brings back fond memories because it's where I first met many of you.

So life is good. I am happy. Me...happy! Who knew?? You know those sickening people you see pawing each other, looking all goofy in each other's eyes, and you just want to say, "get a room"? That's us!!! ;)

I have found somebody to love who loves me back endlessly. I am head over heels, and we are planning a life together that I can't wait to start.

I still don't know why God took Bob away, but he has given me a wonderful gift for the second half of my life.

What better birthday present than that?

Oh my gosh Lori, you are bringing tears to me eyes for the second time. The first time were sad tears but these are very happy tears!

I'm so happy the kids are doing well.

A new man, a new home, a new life, a new kitchen. Wowee. And 4.5 acres of waterfront land in RI?? Double wowee.

Congratulations to Brian, both for being an All American and on his college acceptance! Brown is a stellar university and and I love the campus. Obviously you're a terrific mom and despite the tragic circumstances your children are flourishing. Yeah Lori!

Lori, I'm a bit late here, but my birthday wishes are no less sincere than they they would have been at 12:01 this morning, I'm glad your birthday dawned on so much happiness for you.

Congratulations to Brian, it seems that he is following in his Dad's footsteps in at least one way, and I can't believe that Connor is 15 and that your baby is nearly 9. Time goes quickly.

Your story is amazing. I am sure you are a rock to many for whom the unthinkable happens - and that you (and Maria!) pass through to another side, life and love does not end.
