OGM!

THese are the best lemon cooler cookies I have ever tasted! Only once before have I ever had ones that were so lemony that you almost puckered while enjoying the decadent sweetness of them. THese are better!

Thanks so much Lori for finding this recipe - it is definitely going to get a lot of use here!

well, phooey, Alexa, I wish we were sampling all these cookies together! You are right again! I love lemon and these are sooo good. (I'm not going to need dinner tonight...)

and the cookies arrived in perfect condition.My aunt Susan is going to LOVE these, too! I can't wait to make up a tray and impress everyone! They are Lemon Coolers and the name fits - they are so lemony and refreshing. Lori said that they always had them at Christmas time, growing up.

Lori, Michigan does have a small border with Wisconsin, but it's via the Upper Peninsula, several hours north of me, LOL. I'm about half way up the state, on the west side, and about 40 miles inland from that "big lake". Wisconsin is pretty much straight across from me, Peppi is a little bit south. Hey, I promised to take stepmom to Chicago sometime in August, maybe we could all meet at Peppi's! (snicker) Another possibility is Elery's house, he's in Jackson, not far from the southern Michigan border. No working farm, but I could drive down there, meet you and you could at least save the cost of a night's lodging and get a meal or two, if the timing is such that you wanted to stop for the night. Every little bit helps when you're travelling, and especially with kids... Annie

Freakin' awesome. That's all I've got to say. Sorry for the cameraphone pic, but since Lori already posted a "bad" pic ;-) I figured I'd join in. This is officially in my list of top favorite things I've ever made. Try it, unless you don't like cilantro. And, the yogurt sauce tastes "ehh" by itself but ends up being an essential part of the combo. I can't recommend this enough. Thanks Lori and Robin!

Thank you, everybody! And a special thank you for the email from Lyra this morning letting me know these birthday wishes were here (and the other occasional check-ins), although, truthfully, I do check in here much more often than I used to. The kids are well. Brian, a senior, made All American in indoor track and will be a freshman at Brown University in the fall! Yes, I am beaming. His dad would be so proud. He was state champion, winning the same race his dad won as a HS senior 43 yrs ago. He put his medal at Bob's gravesite. Connor has grown into such a handsome young man (just turned 15) with a heart of gold. He also had a successful track season and is doing well in his freshman year. Mackenzie...she's not my little baby any more. She will be nine in a few weeks. Can you remember my first post after Bob passed? "How do you explain death to a six year old?" We've all come a long way since then. As most of you know, I have found a wonderful man to complete my life. The realtor just called yesterday to say the seller agreed with his offer on 4.5 acres of beautiful waterfront land, and we are finalizing house plans. Seth has promised me my dream kitchen! I'm checking out the kitchen forum, starting that process all over again. The KF brings back fond memories because it's where I first met many of you. So life is good. I am happy. Me...happy! Who knew?? You know those sickening people you see pawing each other, looking all goofy in each other's eyes, and you just want to say, "get a room"? That's us!!! ;) I have found somebody to love who loves me back endlessly. I am head over heels, and we are planning a life together that I can't wait to start. I still don't know why God took Bob away, but he has given me a wonderful gift for the second half of my life. What better birthday present than that?

Lori sent me some of these when we did the cookie exchange a few years back. I use lemon juice for the water like she suggested. My group likes them. Have fun baking day with Sarah!! David Posted by lori316 (My Page) on Fri, Dec 15, 06 at 9:18 Lori's Lemon Coolers 1/2 cup powdered sugar 1/3 cup sugar 1/3 cup shortening 1 egg 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 1/2 cups cake flour 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1 tablespoon water 1 cup powdered sugar 1/2 teaspoon unsweetened lemonade mix Directions: -Preheat oven to 325 degrees. -Cream together sugars, shortening, egg, vanilla, and salt in a large bowl. -Add the flour and baking powder. Add 1 tablespoon of water and continue mixing until dough forms a ball. -Roll dough into 3/4-inch balls and flatten slightly onto a lightly greased cookie sheet. -Bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until cookies are light brown. -As cookies bake, combine 1 cup powdered sugar with the lemonade drink mix in a large plastic bag and shake thoroughly to mix. -When the cookies are removed from the oven and while they are still hot, add four or five at a time to the bag and mix until the cookies are well coated. Repeat with the remaining cookies. (Makes about 4 dozen cookies) NOTES: *This recipe doubles easily - in fact I don't ever remember NOT doubling it! *I use Crystal Lite Lemonade Mix. *For an even more lemony flavor, sub some or all of the tablespoon of water for lemon juice. I used water in the cookies I sent out.

I NEED that recipe! Lemon coolers are my favoritest cookies in the whole world. The puckier the better! I used to buy some very expensive ones, but can't find them anymore. Pepperidge Farm makes a nice one, but not puckery enough. I definitely want to make these beautiful morsels.

Oh boy, I got some too. I love anything with lemon and I've already eaten two. Ashley hates lemon so they are all mine!!

These are so good, lemony and covered with powdered sugar so you get that sweet/tart flavor.

I think I'm going to go have another one...

Oh my, I LOVE anything lemon and especially love lemon coolers. I haven't had any in years. And like Sherry, the puckier the better. There's another recipe I'll need to copy! Lori, they look awesome.

I'm so glad everybody liked them so far. I will post the recipe in the morning, but these are very easy and tasty.

I have a sugar high from eating so many cookies tonight (I got 4 dozen today!) My tray looks so pretty.

This is such a fun swap!

I got lucky and have puckered up more than once today already! Lori, these are wonderful! Thank you!

I'm giving up on the idea of saving any of the cookies from this exchange for any future sharing. I think they will all be history be the end of the weekend. LOL!!

Lori thanks so much, mine arrived today and as everyone has said...they are woderful. I'm a lemon fan and these sure hit the spot for me. Thanks too for the cute little tin.

Wow, Sharon, I was beginning to think customs stole them. I'm glad you like them and that they weren't stale from the delay. They told me you'd get them Saturday at the latest. Guess they were wrong.

At any rate, I'm happy that you're a fan. I was nervous sending them out!
