Colleen, Aaron assures me that he can mend it and that unless I look for it (because I'll know it's there) I won't even be able to tell. It's still just beautiful, I'm deciding whether I want to "frame" it in some form for display or use it was part of the backsplash in my kitchen in a couple of years when Elery and I get "our" own place. He does some beautiful (and very expensive, LOL) work, so I trust him with this. Annie

I never heard of cows in the graveyard, but I remember playing a road trip game called zip. You got one point for a white horse, two points for a white donkey and three points for a white mule. If you saw one, you said zip! Actually, only played that one time when we went on a road trip with another family. It's hard enough finding a white horse, much less a white mule. I had a stick horse too. I painted it black with one end white...blaze face...and the other end white...stockings. My grandmother lived next door and she was a mean old buzzard. I went over to play with my cousins who were visiting her one time, and at lunch time, she told me to go home for lunch...she didn't have enough to "go around." So when I came back, after lunch, she had my stick horse in the trash fire, and when I tried to pull it out, she tried to hit me with her cane. She actually ran at me...she was in her 70's. I remember my cousin said, "Git her, granny!" I can laugh about it now, because my cousins loved horses...just like I did, and said when they grew up they were going to have stables, etc., etc. As it turned out, one became an alcoholic and had 5 kids and the other had about that many marriages. I went on to raise horses...the first one I got was when my grandmother died and the estate was settled. "Get her, granny!" :))

YAY! i know you both could walk 15 miles in way less than a year but having driven on the island a few times a couple of decades back, i'm not surprised it took that long to get up the courage to do so when you didn't really HAVE to :) but it sure sounds like it was absolutely the perfect thing to do! i'm so glad you guys had a chance to spend the afternoon together! and that little jam pot is totally adorable--i'm sure you'll put that to good use, carol. thanx for the pics!

Welcome back! I do remember you and your house and I'm so sorry for the health woes. You have a great attitude though. My college friend in her late 30's have been battling this too and she was stage 3 as well. She's now in remission, but still recovering from her treatments. I think your attitude is going to help you a lot too in this battle. I've been here on and off since the late 90's. Depends on how busy life is and also if I need to escape. I'm not a big poster though. I mostly read unless I feel like I have something to add that hasn't already been said or I'm one of the earlier posters. I think the last of your posts I remember is from your bathroom remodel. I still wonder what you ended up doing there. Maybe you posted it and it was during the time I wasn't around.
