Most likely NOT very scratch resistant. Not all bonded leather is created equal or should it even be called leather. Its basically vinyl with the back side of the vinyl being ground up leather scraps. To make it feel more soft and leather like they cant make the top vinyl coating very thick. To resists scratching your better off going to the real Naugahyde brand vinyl. The leather your cats scratched was pigmented leather, if you had purchased top grain aniline dyed leather then the scratches was not be so noticeable.

We've decided to go with Hancock and Moore because of the construction of the frame, amongst other considerations. I've gotten some good advice from Duane (formerly of this site and now on his own site) and others (thanks to the replies here, too) and now feel a little bit more educated on Leather 101. We went to FLS but they didn't have a Journey. And because we were there, we browsed pretty much everywhere else and got tired and came straight home, thinking we'd made a decision (on leather color) until I read about problems with the 'Document' line (color sometimes rubbing off), and so I learned more--about protected and unprotected leathers and such. Still wanting to sit in a Journey chair or sofa, I called around. The only place I can find one is Boyles, 2 yrs away. Gee, I changed my mind from fabric to leather thinking there would be fewer decisions. I couldn't seem to commit to a fabric type / style / color, etc. I MUST make a decision and take advantage of H&M's winter sale.

Per Flo’s suggestion, it does seem very functional to put the sofa in front of the window . I always hesitated, though to put a sofa in front of a window, As far as far as practicality and making The most of the space, though, this does seem to make sense, specially with the fireplace ( not easily moved), being a given. It does look like a portable fireplace but it’s not. There’s an opening and vent to the exterior of the home, it’s not a ventless fireplace. It’s listed as gas But the home inspection , within days, will clarify that.

Hi everyone! Looking at buying a new couch and looking for a fabric or leather that can withstand cat nails on them -- the cats don't scratch furniture and I keep their nails trimmed, but they inevitability cause wear and tear just by jumping up on the couches, etc. I spied a lovely couch and loveseat set but I can't tell if the leather is the super durable kind or the nightmare kind -- can anyone comment?
