Go get a "knit picker" at a local fabric or crafts store. Run it though the fabric near a snag, come out at the snag and hook the loose fibers and pull them in. It may also need an upholstery regulator (an ice pick would do) to work the fibers back into place. With a little time and patience, you should get a reasonable repair. Usually, the manufacturer sends a product for cleaning/conditioning when you buy the piece of furniture. Have you tried these? Maybe they did not send them with your item- either go to a furniture store and ask for the products to buy, or go to a good saddlery store and ask for a good saddle/leather conditioner. It will take the majority of the scratch marks out, but depending how bad the scratches are, they may not all be removed. How big is the dog? Was it just him/her getting on the sofa- toenail marks, or doing damage by digging/chewing/destructive? Being a dog lover, I just have to ask...the dog isn't punished or put outside is it?

The room is open - 2 story with open kicthen in the back. Plans show it as 20' x 17'6" The room from side wall to side wall (left/right) is 20'. Out of which the TV wall is 11' (44" hallway on right and 64" fireplace on left). We were thinking placing a 9' sofa facing the 11' TV wall. That still leaves over 5 foot distance to walls from each side/edge of the sofa. Yes this sofa is deep front to back. (we like depth for comfort and lounging) The room 'depth' (infront of TV wall) is 12' for sure. but you could count it till 17'6" considering where you want the boundary to be since it then flows into kitchen. But I would keep the back of the sofa till 13'6" max.

Hello, I am trying to find the best material for a sofa in a home worth a cat and dog. I do not think I will find anything perfect, but am looking for whatever is best. My cat scratches sometimes. My dog sometimes drools or urinates on the couch when asleep. And sheds a lot. So in order of priority of importance: -Won’t outright rip when scratched (some marks not a huge deal, but my tightly-pulled bonded leather sofa before got ripped up) -Urine/water does not sink in or stain and can be wiped off -Pet hair easy to wipe off (Cheap leather was perfect for these last 2) -Style - Super modern with no wrinkles and a really consistent and sleek look. I loved the look of my tightly-pulled cheap leather I don’t really care on the price front, although I guess if it is going to get destroyed regardless, Id prefer something cheaper. Also: yes I would like to take some actions to mitigate scratching and urinating, but am trying to attack this on multiple fronts. Would like to stick to purely fabric/leather here. Also: If someone here recommends a specific sofa that I end up buying, I will Venmo you $100. Looking ideally for a sleeper sofa 5-7 feet wide that is really well built and modern and comfortable. Sectional piece for putting feet up a plus. Budgeting $3000 but can go higher/lower. No recline.
